One firefighter has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries while battling a three-alarm, multiple-house fire in Pleasant Hill this evening, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.
The fire was first reported shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday on Old Rodgers Ranch Court in Pleasant Hill, about a block south of the Rodgers Ranch Heritage Center historical site.
Fire Capt. Tracie Dutter said that both houses have since collapsed, but that flames have not spread to other houses on the block. PG&E crews were on the scene to turn off natural gas lines, and Dutter said those lines had to be shut off before firefighters could fully fight the blaze.
Dutter did not disclose the nature of the firefighter’s injury.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

I have a lot of respect for firefighters, they really do put themselves at risk keeping us safe.
In a TV news segment on this fire (I forget the channel), a neighbor stated that he/she noticed the flames when the fire first started, and that the origin appeared to be on the outside of the house near the electrical panel and gas meter.
Every fire I’ve been to – the Fire fighters shut off gas first thing. If Gas lines were damaged in the fire – then PGE would need to dig up and shut off gas from a safe distance.
