Mt. Diablo State Park will remain closed until further notice due to extreme fire conditions.
A red flag warning has been issued for the east bay hills until Wednesday.
Park officials will re-evaluate the conditions at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and determine whether it is safe to open the park.
The park closure affects all users – vehicles, hikers, runners, bicyclists, equestrians, etc.
Please respect the closure for the safety of the park and surrounding residents.
Just as an FYI, the electricity came back on near Oak Grove Rd. & Ygnacio Valley Rd, at 4:33 PM
Salty here..
Noticed some bonehead hikers thinking they were above the law and went hiking at the Regency gate.
What a bunch of law breaking idiots.
Salty OUT!!
Some hikers are idiots. They don’t care about the park or the neighborhood. All they care about is saving $6. Park needs to close all gates not just driving entrances
Salty here..
I have witnessed 1st hand hikers discarding their cigarette butts on the trails and barely even step on them to put them out. I have seen others smoking marijuana climbing the trees and hanging off the big oak limbs smoking their marijuana. If these idiots were out hiking during the high winds. Mt Diablo is toast as well as all the subdivisions that neighbor the park. And the winds could cause same situation for the town of Clayton as up in the North Bay.
I agree with CONCERNED. The gates should be closed on high wind days and have someone from State Parks enforcing EVERY gate entrance. The city of Clayton should be getting involved for the interest of Clayton.
Salty 1 OUT!!
Thanks Salty. We all want to be safe. The park service is more concerned about their issues than the problems they cause by not closing gates and not being concerned about the neighborhood impacts
