Many thanks for you and your service. Some in my family have been in all of them since WW1. Now that they take women, I have special thanks to my cousins and nieces that have or still serve.
Thank you, Mr. Mayor, and thank you to all those who honorably served their county in any branch of the armed services.

I feel the same way,borderline disgraceful.
Because I very much appreciate those who have served in the military, fought in wars, and died defending the freedoms of others, I’ve been trying to think of something meaningful to say today I especially sympathize with the children who’s moms and dads are away on active duty because I know how difficult it can be on them. And the separation from husbands and wives. It takes a special kind of dedication, discipline, and strength to do that, and I thank all of you for serving your nation in times of war and in times of peace.

how many veterans — in every nation — have left life behind … for exactly the reason cited above by Burnbabyburn?
People do not care (in general) about the men and women who have sacrifice much to deliver the national protection of their citizens.
