First Coronavirus Case Reported In Contra Costa County

by CLAYCORD.com

Officials with Contra Costa Health Services said Tuesday that a resident of Contra Costa County has coronavirus.

This is the first case of coronavirus in the county, health officials said. The resident is being treated at a county hospital and does not have a travel history that would have put them at risk.

The person, whose city of residence wasn’t released, was tested by staff of the county’s public health lab and the test came back positive Tuesday afternoon.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will check the test results. A new case surfaced Tuesday in Berkeley and two more cases were reported Tuesday in Santa Clara County.

43 people in California have tested positive for the virus, state health officials said.

You do not need any more tp!!!! 😂

Specially if you’re from India

Patient privacy is messed up? They don’t know who the infected man came in contact with but won’t release the name of the Man. How about asking the patient if they can release their name in the interest of public safety for Contra Costa County.

Not telling us what city he’s from makes absolutely no good sense either.

Three people with the virus were moved from Travis to “local hospitals” last week. The hospitals weren’t identified. I’m wondering if this latest case somehow is related to that move: during transport; at the hospital; or from an encounter with someone from the hospital.

I heard about the people that were moved to other hospitals last week. now why would anyone in their right minds move infected bodies around to different hospitals ? spreading the chit ! so much for containment.

I can say for certain John Muir Concord has at least one of these people from Travis.

I think other patients, staff, and visitors at county hospital have a right to know if a highly infectious patient is being treated in an isolation room, and what protocols were used to safely treat the victim. We don’t need a repeat of the Vacaville incident that needlessly exposed people to coronavirus.

If he does not have a recent, extensive travel history, then it is spreading through the community without warning.

That is really, really bad news.

Exactly. All the more reason to INFORM the community who can choose to avoid known areas of exposure and protect themselves, young and old. Spread the word for everyone to call and put pressure on Health officials to do more.

The HIPAA law doesn’t have anything to do with letting us know where this person lives or where they have recently been. Too much secrecy causes more trouble and worry than any of us need.

I don’t think we’re getting all the ‘dirt’ from China regarding this;
I just don’t know what to think about the situation and how “they” are handling the Coronavirus.
I do however, think this:
PEOPLE!!!. . . TAKE THE TIME TO WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!!
I’m from the Biotech world…..and the 𝘚𝘐𝘔𝘗𝘓𝘌 use of water and a bar of soap, EVERY TIME you WASH YOUR HANDS, is SO IMPORTANT!!!
If everyone can do this, we just may be able to help slow the virus down and stop this from turning into “2 Contra Costa residents have . . .”

Washing your hands is important, but not touching your face before you wash your hands is more important. As with any virus, it enters the body through the mucus membranes, i.e. the eyes, nose, mouth, and sometimes the ears.

Most important is distance 6 ft.

RAISE HELL with County Health and the tRUMP administrations that you/we want to be informed of the location of ALLLLL Coronavirus patients. As stated above that information would not violate the HIPAA law.
WE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTECT OURSELVES AND OUR LOVED ONES FROM EXPOSURE IN AFFECTED AREAS.

Better still Pat, get educated before stirring up jour hysteria.

Also, has this person exposed others? Does he/she have children in local schools? Which schools? Has he/she been to work recently? Name of employer? Stop hiding information that may cause others to become seriously ill and/or die! Word has spread that there are other cases in Contra Costa County hospitals. Stay away. Will school districts wait too long to start closing schools until AFTER the virus has spread? Our government’s prevention plan is NOT WORKING WELL. RIDICULOUS! How many elderly persons and others in CCC will die as a result of this poor attempt at PREVENTION?????

pAT, your feeble attempt to blame President Trump failed. Are you related to Adam Schiff?

Step back from the ledge. You don’t have to worry about COVID-19, you’re going to die from a stroke or heart attack before you can catch it.

This is a global society, there is no way to prevent the spread of the flu. I don’t care who is in the White House or what county you live in. You can be anywhere in the world in 18 hours and that is through a controlled airport with customs. What about the porous borders with no control? Ever think about that?

How about instead of being an alarmist you simply take normal precautions for preventing the spread and the catching of the flu which is all this really is. This is not Ebola or the plague.

Perhaps because some people would FREAK OUT unnecessarily…Pat.

Maybe they should also announce WHERE THIS PERSON HAS BEEN….
Which GROCERY STORE, retail store, restaurant..etc..
Then others can go get PRE tested…geez…

I do not think the government is helping with these partial releases of information about persons close by who are infected. We want, need, & deserve better.

I heard from a friend of a friend that someone within the health care system in the Walnut Creek said a person tested positive for corona five days ago. The public is being prevented from this info nation wide. There must be much more cases than they’re releasing.

Where the patient is from doesn’t matter. In 2 weeks every community will be exposed.

^ This…

It’s been among us for several weeks. We just haven’t been testing/tested. Wait until we get lots of testing conducted. Then everyone can freak out…

The hysteria over this is out of control. Wash your hands. Cough or sneeze into your am or shoulder, not your hand.Stay home from work if you are sick! Most people who get extremely ill from viruses have underlying chronic medical issues or they are very young or elderly.
There are so many anti-vaxers out there who refuse the flu shot and other vaccines, so I bet a lot of people wouldn’t even get a Coronavirus vaccine if they had one.
Pat: calm down…and remember to get your vaccines and stay healthy.

I agree with you NinjaNurse! People tend to panic and complain about stuff when they don’t even know what’s going on. Patient privacy is just part of treating a patient. Do these people making these comments not think that things are being investigated as to who the patient came in contact with? You can bet they are! People just need to calm down and take care of themselves!

Sorry,
Due to underlying conditions, I will not be taking anymore vaccines.
BTW, all of you who are vaccinated…..why are you so concerned about me if you are already vaccinated???

Post up a list of the vaccines ingredients.

NinjaNurse

WHO had a big party because they cured small pox in Africa with a vaccine. Then people started dropping like flies. The vaccine made them sick with other diseases. So WHO put the vaccine on the shelf saying “this can never be used again”
But nobody talks about this.
The killer will be in the vaccine, bet on it.
If someone comes along and says to you “would you like the vaccine” say No but I will take antiviral meds.

wow is the proverbial wool is being removed from some eyes isn’t it

yes first off when it started sf allowed flights from the country and surrounding areas

next the state accepted to quarantine expected viral patients at travis afb….all the while stating it was only to house them and not treat ..

next came the transfers further exposing people ….

and now we have exposure in the area of the transfers

from day one we found out it appears the whole world was allowing the spread of this and even going further to push it around and place it in the center of areas to inspect the spread

even as it hit japan the us was allowing planes to land from china and surrounding areas ….

seems liberal areas are hit first ….Washington state now demifornia ….and apparently Oregon is keeping a lid on their state as the stepsister liberal to Washington and demifornia

either way buy all the toilet paper you can and hand sanitizer …..because they say it will help ….

NO WAIT ….NO THEY DIDNT ….HUH

OH THATS RIGHT THEY DONT KNOW HOW IT SPREADS OR HOW TO TREAT IT ….YET ALLOWED IT TO SPREAD IN THE US LIKE IDIOTS

and now people are buying out items the lemmings they are …running around like the sky is falling …lol just like they are supposed to…lol

you again voted for these tools

keep being sheep ….it suites you well …..with your toilet paper and sanitizer keeping you safe lol….

the supposedly liberal voter that touts they know better sure are showing just how much they don’t know ….

“Liberal areas” are hit first because “liberal areas” are hubs for trade, business, and culture, which makes “liberal places” travel hotspots. What a strange and startlingly ignorant connection you have made.

Pat, the spread of unfounded, “ALL CAPS” hysteria is a far greater threat than the possible spread of the corona virus. Just follow all the common sense hygiene guidelines and, take one chill pill every four hours until your fever breaks.

JAFO, great post, and thanks for the laugh.

JAFO …..I AGREE!!!

wait what county …..health

hold the phone ….oscama care is supposed to be imposed and mandatory

no need for county when everyone is supposed to be on mandatory scama care

so we are paying for county workers as well as paying for oscama ….

wow a double dip in liberal town say it aint so

WHY DO WE HAVE COUNTY MEDICAL???

anyone care to explain ????

I do find it very concerning and wrong that they won’t release the town this latest person is from. Why the secrecy? We know about Vallejo’s, Berkeley ect.

Am I wrong to think it wont be long before the butcher in the grocery store (who may already – or will – be exposed) who prepares and packages your next meal won’t be unknowingly affecting the lives of many? How about the exposed produce person who’s in close contact with/touching fruits and vegetables all day at your local store? Exposed, yet not aware of their diagnosis – persons who stock the shelves? Isn’t it true the virus can live on surfaces for many days? Are you paying attention to the news? If you’re not thinking ahead to this real possibility (just one example), and demanding more tests and quarantining from the tRUMP administration, you’re not helping the situation. This is real no matter how much you want to sugar-coat it.

It’s already happening, we just haven’t seen test results (from what the experts say). The virus was present, and spreading, for ~6-weeks in WA prior to it being discovered. The cat is out of the bag…

It would have been nice to know the areas this individual traveled about in. Maybe I’d just like to be able to avoid those areas…I mean I have to go out I am running out of TO. Anywho, all that aside given how many people presumably have been exposed (it’s been weeks since it first landed here and our borders still open and flights still operating) and not gotten sick. Either what Trump has done is sufficient or it’s not particularly virulent. Stay well everyone! Just from geography and proximity to Travis I don’t doubt exposure to covid-19 has not already occurred in Claycord.

What good would knowing what town they live in ? Would you avoid that town ? You open a can of worms with identifying location of the patient . Where do they live ? Where have they been shopping ? Where do they work ? The questions can go on and on .
Assume there are germs everywhere,. Wash your hands . Don’t touch your face .
If you’re that fearful, then stay home

There’s been transparency about all the other towns but CCC has left this one vague . It’s not ok

Hit the nail on the head, Partyoffive. Too bad people revel in drama and hysteria, and the media is well aware of it and exploiting it as hard as they can.

Pat, thanks for at least toning down the “ALL CAPS” communiques. No sugar coating here, just a little perspective for your consideration. The Centers for Disease Control reports the following estimated US influenza figures from last calendar year alone: 31 Million cases of influenza; 210,000-370,000 hospitalizations; 12,000 deaths between 10/1/19 and 02/01/20, perhaps as many as 30,000. The World Health Organization estimates that between 290,000-650,000 people died around the globe last year from influenza. Influenza impacts millions. That’s why immunization is so important, along with adherence to the widely-circulated suggestions regarding personal hygiene. We’ll get through this. Soon enough, the Caronavirus will be added to the long list of other viruses in humankind’s rearview mirror; e.g., Swine Flu, Bird Flu, Hong Kong Flu, H1N1, SARS, etc. Besides, they’ll be a new one to worry about next season.

17 yrs and there is no vaccine for SARS and this is SARS2.

In the meantime how many have the flu and how many have died from it this year?

Ricardoh….

There is a vaccine for the flu. The Coronavirus does not have a vaccine. You can also transmit the coronavirus without showing symptoms, unlike the SARS virus in 2003 which killed 774 people.

There’s a BIG difference between this virus and the flu.

Saw the press conference last night, it was basically to tell us that they can’t tell us anything. Except wash your hands.

Very scary picture! I had no idea the virus was so large!!

Lol! @ Martinezmike! Thanks for the laugh! 🙂

omgoodness that was great 😆
