Seems like virtue signaling to me.

yes, home sewn masks are ineffective, virus particles are far too tiny to get caught in the cloth. these home sewn mask videos will only give false sense of security and should not be posted or endorsed.

Tried this with my Dad’s old handkerchief.
Thanks for posting.

It works great. 👍

Why does everyone use portrait mode then taking pics/videos with their phones even when they’re not selfies?. Landscape mode is more like a photo and gives a more comprehensive picture.

Incidentally, I once heard someone say “If you don’t have a picture it didn’t happen”.

Finally a video which goes slowly enough that you can actually follow it!
Those are ponytail elastics, right?

Thanks, Mayor!

Yes Antler, I think they are, I’ve gotten packs of several at a time from the 99¢ store (for 99¢).

Um… I hope everybody realizes that a microscopic virus can pass through fabric. The best solution to beating this is proper hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and warm water.

Also, one-time use gloves are for just that. One-time use. When you touch a door handle or elevator button, then touch your keys, car door handle, steering wheel, homemade face mask, etc. without changing the gloves, then you are just spreading any possible germs you picked up.

All you need to do is give your hands a thorough washing before you eat, touch your face, put your contact lenses in, or pick your nose.

BTW the virus is so small it can’t be seen with an optical microscope.

Yeah, I think with most of the filter mask we’re hoping that the flying droplets containing the virus which are much bigger, from coughing, sneezing, (breathing) etc. won’t get all the way through the filter, and maybe we won’t be spraying as many droplets when we cough, etc., etc., if we ourselves have become contagious without symptoms (yet) .

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love how so many people are experts in everything here.

Is this Yahoo Answers or CNET Forums?
Only thing, who do I believe? Or is that whom?

Experts?

Experts say, you should always listen to the experts.

That’s great! My husband saw a video similar to this circling the globe using a paper towel (or why not two?), two large rubber bands, and a stapler. You fold the whole paper towel accordion style with about 1″ or so folds, gather it with the folds all together fold each end back on itself making a pocket for the rubber band and stapling to secure it. To wear you put the rubber bands over your ears then spread out the folds distributing them from your nose to under your chin. We did it as an activity with our grandson.

How do you manage eyeglass fogging? I can’t see when the mask is on.

If I wear them a bit over the top of the mask instead of where they normally sit on my nose they don’t fog up.. much.

Although the virus can pass through the fabric, a face mask can slow it down and keep it from spreading as far as it could should one cough. As such, it doesn’t protect the wearer so much as it protects people from the possibly asymptomatic wearer. As an added bonus, it keeps one from touching one’s face.

What’s a weekend?

I can’t see much of any difference between using one of these and one of the dusk protection mask you can get a dollar store usually 6 to a pack. As mentioned many times above it’s to prevent sneezes or coughs from the wearer in spreading too easily or picking them up. The N95’s are for close work around patients and dangerous areas. I wore an N95 during the smoke we had here back in November 2018 because the dust masks would still let smoke through. N95s are a bit uncomfortable on a walk because you’ll start building up sweat under it. Possibly the pricier ones don’t do that.

I made this and the trouble I had is my hair bands are way too thick. You need the thin types. FYI other than that it is brilliant.
