Still not wearing a mask
Also still not wearing a mask
Ditto Sam. This war has been battled by the wimpiest people in all of history. Certainly those brave patriots of the American revolution and Civil War could’ve been spared of so much death and despair had they sheltered in place. With 29 deaths YTD in CoCo County and with a population of 1,154,000, all you little men and hysterical women can hide in your houses. I’m going back to work to do my part to save this country.
@liberty – You make an interesting analogy. In the case of the Revolutionary War and Civil War, armies mobilized to defeat an enemy. It involved armed conflict, death and staggering economic loss. We mobilized a military, armed the military and trained the military to fight. In many ways, defeating an enemy is easier than defeating a virus. How does one courageously face and defeat this virus? What weapons do we have against this virus at this point?
When did wearing a mask become a sign of cowardice versus strength? Doctors, firefighters, military professionals, police officers all wear masks. All work in extremely dangerous jobs that require a great deal of courage. Courage is doing the right thing even when it is the hard thing to do. It takes more courage to wear a mask than it does to rant on Claycord. Heroes Wear Masks!
@dan Attempting to characterize people who stand up for their rights and freedoms as selfish, extreme, irresponsible, hateful, irrational or lawless is psychological conditioning that I won’t allow to go unchecked. Like I said wear a mask if you want. Just don’t attack or disparage individuals who have concerns about the slippery slope everyone seems to have dove off without thinking. The whole world shut down to compassionately figure out what was what with this virus. Despite the lame attempts to add new and changing “symptoms” daily to bump the fear. It’s not working.
The arguments are always about CC county. This is a regional area and numbers should be reported as such. These county numbers mean nothing.
If unemployment is 20% we have 80% of Americans are working. So we have 20% who are crybabies.
@Sam – adding new symptoms is not a lame attempt at stoking fear. It is simply the scientific community learning more about this disease. Please keep in mind it is only a few months old. As a society, we are learning more and more every day.
I am a huge proponent of our rights as Americans. Those rights allow us to have these spirited discussions. Claycord likely would not exist in a society like China. I do strongly disagree with politicizing the use of masks because it endangers our economy and public health.
Why are tough guys waiting for Newsom to tell them it’s ok to go back to work?
Oz Tough guys never stop working. And dan I’m not referring to numbers. I’m referring to new outlandish symptoms like COVID toe and amputations and it turning your blood black, tigers testing for it and rare skin rashes. A ever expanding clearly nonsensical list of stories we’re being bombarded with. If your that gullible, I got a bridge to sell you
@Sam – I haven’t heard that COVID turns people’s blood black. Where did you hear about these symptoms? Facebook has become a platform for people to seek out news and information. Unfortunately, the information, in many cases, is not supported by facts. I think we all need to be careful where we get information these days.
I have heard of some of the other symptoms that you describe. I wonder why you refer to them as outlandish. They are being identified by multiple doctors across multiple countries. I don’t know that they have a political agenda as much as trying to share whatever they learn about this disease in an effort to treat and further manage it.
Sure dismiss as Facebook news it was not. Outlandish claims have been made on fox, cnn, cbs, nbc in addition to social. I think your right about you not knowing. What about nobody having reliable testing? Have you heard that as well? That, to me would be another outlandish claim true or not. I error on the side of common sense. It’s just my default setting.
I agree that the CDC says the antibody test is not yet reliable. There is no real reason for us to take an antibody test. Antibody tests are really only useful for studies and even then, we are in the early stages.
Let me ask you if you are hearing about these symptoms for so many news outlets, why do you find them outlandish. Do you not believe they fact check?
I’m so glad you asked that dan. With all the fraudulent outlandish news the last few years being reported like Russia collusion, Ukrainegate, impeachment, Joe Biden rape, the Kim jong un death, burisma, Clinton foundation, General Flynn, All “news” has become a drama show full of misleading information. I find it not only reasonable but imperative at this point to question things like global pandemic or giant Asian murder hornets and the accuracy of all “reporting. Like I said I error on the side of common sense, which has become so uncommon it should be considered a super power. To you hearing the same story out of multiple sources makes it legit. You have obviously seen the videos showing all news the saying the same thing line for line everyday. But thanks for asking. You know
Oh wait what’s this? “ExposeCBS” trending for getting caught staging COVID-19 testing..here you go dan. You can add it to my previous list. The news is so fake now. Someone needs to get a TRO on all news until they can be accountable
@Sam and L1S2
You seem to be unable to comprehend that the collective action of wearing a mask actually benefits your freedoms by helping to contain the disease and move the ball forward. Maybe you don’t have COVID and your own hubris won’t infect anyone (or, maybe you are asymptomatic and you do become a super-spreader, who knows). But what if everyone thought the same way you do? No masks anywhere and the outbreak could be magnified immensely.
Since when is protecting the health and lives of your fellow citizens an attack on freedom? Do your civic duty and wear a damn mask.
@sam – that is not really how the news works. Independent journalists report on a story that has been reviewed and fact checked by their editor. Yes, news is a business and it must attract viewers to attract sponsors to make money. Yes, there is a news cycle and yes, some things get too much coverage and others not enough. Asian Murder Hornets is probably a good example of another invasive species that impacts a very small part of the US – it probably doesn’t need a lot of attention. Whether you felt the impeachment process was warranted or not, the impeachment proceedings did require media coverage. Absent media coverage, it could appear that the proceedings were somehow not valid. You may like the news but it is a critical part of our democracy.
Some excellent models/simulations to better understand the virus and various interventions:

Wow according to the charts Clayton’s population grew by 158 people overnight. Ohhh. Okay.
Comparing the two charts, some cities’ population grew by 100’s or 1000’s of people overnight! That’s some reliable data…
Wow. Interesting observation. Check the total for the county. We lost approximately 100,000 over night? How is that possible? Where’s everyone fleeing to?
Almost as bad as the data-manipulation on the climate!
The population changes are because they switched from using 2012 population data for the cities to the 2020 population estimates. The person that put the original COVID-19 by-city table together was not paying attention. Wikipedia’s article for CC county has what looks like a nice population table. However, it’s a crime rate table that the FBI published in 2012.
The populations that did not change were Census Designated Place (CDP) areas. Those were already using the most current estimates for their populations.
However, when they updated the table they made a mistake in that they changed the total population for the county from the 2020 estimate to the sum of the cities listed in the table. That caused the total to not include 96,346 residents that live in parts of the county that are not within city boundaries.
Let me guess, Newsom’s Fault? Or is it Trumps? The world will never know
@King Not Newsom’s or Trump’s fault, it’s CHINA’S.
Ok.
When do we learn something about the top secret mask deal with China?
California has already transferred $500,000 million to the contractor in China, yet no one but exclusive parts of the executive branch have seen the details of the 1 billion dollar contract.
Not the legislature, or the people and Newsom has refused a freedom of information request from the LA Times.
What could possibly be wrong?!?
When you recall Newsom
History has shown our Governor likes to preface everything with, “California is leading the nation as the first to (fill in the blank)”.
His silence on the mask deal can’t be good, in fact it smells like an expensive mistake. I hope I am incorrect.
Pleasant Hill added 266 residents overnight? That’s amazing!
The census found more people under the bridges.
You know The Greatest Generation @ your parents and grand parents and great grand parents would be saying quit winning and suck it up butter cup stay inside you have no clue what we went through. think about your fellow Americans and quit this picking one side of the isle or other. We will get through this. We got through the Great Depression, WW II. SUCK IT UP. We fought for the crap you pansies take for granted.
Well said Mc “B”!
My 97 year old father who lived during
the Great Depression and went ashore
D-Day on Omaha Beach is safely staying
at home with no complaints. Like you
wisely said- We’ll get through this.
THANK YOU!! Agree 100%!
The internet and everyone that has been doing so, should stop posting stats about this virus. No one said it was gonna be pretty but all it’s doing is making people paranoid. People are ridiculous.
as of 04-05:
969 confirmed cases (CCC) with 29 deaths = 2.99% death rate.
Where is the wide-spread testing necessary to sanely open society again?
should read “as of 05-05:”
