A suspect is being sought in a series of sexual batteries on the Iron Horse Trail near the intersection of Jones Road and Treat Boulevard in Walnut Creek, the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department said.
There have been six incidents reported since March involving female joggers being grabbed inappropriately from behind by a male assailant.
The incidents have taken place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
A suspect has not been identified to date, but police are circulating a photo taken by a witness of the most recent incident on Friday.
Witnesses describe the assailant as a male about 25 to 35 years old, standing around 5’10”.
Anyone who witnessed the assaults or may have information regarding the identity of the assailant is urged to contact the department dispatch center at 510-881-1833.

My daughter and I were walking on the trail and passed the perpetrator! His victim was left in tears. We walked with her since she was alone & pretty shaken.
She was grabbed from behind and it happened at dusk, probably around 8:00 PM last week.

@The Wizard I used to use the word ‘Creep” to describe people like this guy until Radiohead came out with their song, “Creep,” which is sung from the point of view of someone with a slight physical deformity that makes them feel socially inept and inferior.
The lead singer, Thom Yorke, helped to write the song. Yorke had eye surgery when young which left his eyelid slightly damaged and it opens and closes not well and not in total sync with the other. He is a handsome, extremely talented man, but in the song he conveys the deep and sorrowful pain and self consciousness of feeling inferior to others because of a minor physical impairment. In stunning lyrics, he reiterates the effect this minor physical difference can have in magnifying certain personality qualities and how the rest of the world looks perfect to one who isn’t. It is a sensitive portrait of the deepest feelings of one with even minor disabilities.
At that point, I no longer saw the word “Creep” in a negative light as a slur or insult. Rather, I began to see it as how one with a physical impairment might see themselves even though others might never know these painful, deep-seared insecurities.

What will happen in the future when the police dept is not funded. It will be the Wild West for creepers like this.
Any woman walking alone should carry pepper spray, IMO. It’s cheap, small, and easy to use. And creeps like this guy will think twice about grabbing the next woman.

Good luck with that that. There is nothing as angry and vindictive as the justice system being shown they are not protecting people, so I rather believe anyone who waited and jumped him would land in jail, while the perpetrator is just given a notice to appear in court 6 months from now. Perhaps one of the ex-cops who post here could educate me differently.
Yep. Good luck. Clayton Police told me that if I hit a guy who was trespassing on my property, they would have to arrest me. The fatso is a nearby neighbor who was pounding on the sidewall of my house with his fist. He’s obviously a wacko, fruitcake and I told the police I’d make a citizen’s arrest next time or hit him if he set foot on my property. They said in that case they’d have to arrest me.
Our prison system is overflowing and are not funded enough. When prisons don’t have enough space to hold hardcore criminals, where will they keep these kind of criminals? In additon, our system get sued and bilked for a prisoner getting a illness or COVID in the jail. Hence these creepies are on the streets. We don’t have to have system take care of these criminals, we citizens should take his jewel away. For the rest of his life, he will not grab anything.
This same type of assault happened to my Mom about 15 yrs ago in WC. She was standing outside the house and a young jogger asked her the time. When she checked her watch, grabbed her breast and ran off. Needless to say, but everyone was pretty upset.
Mom gave a description to the police and the artist sketch appeared in the CC times. The police let her know that they were looking for this guy because he was a suspect in a string of similar attacks on the nearby canal trails.
About 2 weeks later, Mom and Dad were coming home and saw the guy jogging down the street, almost right in front of their house. They called the guy and the police arrested him. He got off pretty easy but was arrested again for home burglery shortly thereafter.
Same MO. Similar appearance. Maybe the right age. I’ll pass the photo on to Mom for her thoughts.
Even if they catch this guy, he’ll be out in 24 hours. He’s also appearing to be a minority. So he’s innocent and oppressed by The honky establishment.
Catching him is a losing proposition for the police. Perhaps civilians will have a talk with him and convince him to go elsewhere.
It’s alarmingly frightening. Aside from causing permanent trauma to the victims a predator like that can potentially escalate his violence to a whole “other” level

I believe some of the incidents have been as far south as behind the Safeway that’s at Walker Avenue and South Broadway or maybe a bit south of that towards Las Lomas High School.
I agree that it’s odd that we are looking at just two miles of trail and and always in the afternoons that they have not been able to spot the person.
As someone else noted, run sting operations. They have interviewed the victims and so should have a good idea of the type of person and dress style that he targets.
With PD’s being defunded and disbanded, who’s going to catch him?
