Firefighters extinguished a blaze in a homeless camp in Concord this morning around 6:30.

This is the third fire in the past two months at this location, which is near several neighborhoods, according to the witness.

This encampment is along the EBMUD/Caltrans property south of Solano Way.

Those homeless people are so friggin stupid, they can’t even play with matches safely.

They should be shot with rubber bullets until they disperse

Disperse them with rottweilers and water cannons

This.

Yeah much better to have them roaming around our parks, down towns and yards then in a central isolated area. Way to critically think there.

Awwwww, leave the poor things alone. They have their rights you know….

I agree, they have rights, but one of those rights is not starting vegetation fires which endanger themselves and others!

Certainly more rights than normal, law abiding, tax paying citizens.

Houston we have a problem…… The homeless think they own the City of Walnut Creek. They tell people what to do, demand money and yell at them to leave because they are sleeping. Most don’t wear masks, smoke and leave butts burning, relieve themselves where ever and whenever they please andleave their carts and belongings everywhere.
***Beware when using public restrooms, as they use them to bathe
and never clean up after themselves. Use your imagination here!

Thank Walnut Creek Mayor and City Council for their poor decisions.

@Aunt Barbara –
100%
And they are so proud of themselves.
Patting each other on the back and smiling for the camera.

Give them a ride over to the Pittsburg Homeless Hotel former Motel 6. If the Governor does not get recalled, he needs to build these homeless hotels out of brick so they don’t burn so easily.

Maybe the DA could grow a set and issue citations to these “homeless” and ban them them for life from “camping” in Concord and prepare to defend his authority all the way up to the Supreme Court to overturn Martin vs. City of Boise. That decision has ruined our cities.

Meth does tend to catch on fire. It’s so sad that Covid and republicans have forced them to leave successful lifestyles and forced them to get addicted to meth and eventually live under a bridge bc there were no other options anywhere. It’s a disease guys. Cuz science*.

These are not homeless people. They have a home they have chosen. It is these places. They are hobos and drug addicts.

*Disclaimer- no actual science of this fact exists. The statement is used bc why not. No one reads past the chryon/headline/tweet

Back in the day, we called ‘em bums. Homeless my ass.

they’re still bums, no matter what they try to call them

Homelessness is not going away, even though we all wish it would. My wife and I took in a homeless mother and her young child and found the young mother an entry level job. She didn’t want to work – said she needed to be there for her child. After a couple months, we found her an apartment, but within 30 days she was asked to leave, and now we’ve lost track of them. No easy answers here…

There but by the grace of God go I.

Weppin, how nice of you and your wife. Your good people, who deserve a big thank you for helping. It was the thought that counted. THANK YOU!

No. Not by the grace of God. By hard work and choosing the right path. You know why this doesn’t happen to everyone when one little thing goes wrong? Because these people just don’t care. They don’t plan and they will always insist that someone else take care of them. As long as we keep feeing the bears, they will keep coming for handouts instead of hand ups.

I hate when people say “there for the grace” or “one missed paycheck away.” NO. Just NO. That is not how this goes for people who give a crap about themselves. And that is why I always reply that my family would NEVER be in this situation. For one, I am not a filthy drug addict. But, I plan and make sure that we are set through he use of good choices. These people on the street don’t care about themselves and that is why they are there. So, why should I care about them?

It is too bad that some are so self destructive that they don’t take advantage of a helping hand when given. However, I don’t believe that it applies to all homeless, some would have welcomed the help.

I think the reason more people don’t do what you did, which was extremely generous, is worry that it won’t do any good.

When I worked at Macy’s I had a customer, who years ago had taken in a homeless 16 year old girl, the only rules she had to follow was, go to school, do your homework and keep your room clean, and you will be a member of the family, the woman already had 4 daughters. Years later same 16 year old were about to graduate from law school.

I love how we were told we can’t keep our RV’s on the streets in front of our houses anymore and have to storage them for $150+ a month meanwhile now days the homeless are camping out in their RVs all around Concord and making a mess throwing trash all over especially right next to the Abba RV storage and passing out doing drugs on the canal trail and breaking bottles of booze along the trails, streets and sidewalks that I almost ran over today while riding my bike. Also saw a few needles laying around… Cant wait for the rain to come and flood away their little tent village in the canals they set up.

My neighbors got around that RV ordinance by parking theirs on their front lawn, letting somebody live in it, and calling it an Accessory Dwelling Unit. Now, they have Gavin Newsom’s blessing.

“Cant wait for the rain to come and flood away their little tent village in the canals they set up.”
The Walnut Creek Homeless Industry will house them in the armory like they do most years. Taxpayer money is readily allocated each year with much fanfare and praise for the “humanitarian volunteers” (some are paid). The armory is adjacent to market rate housing on a lovely little street and adjacent to the parkland and trails behind Civic Park. During walks in the area, we see/saw homeless sprawled on the lawns, enjoying drugs and urinating in the tree and bush areas, all within yards of us elderly and the many children/parents that attempt to enjoy what their taxes pay for. Cheers for the Woke Walnut Creek idiots.

Chicken Little,
Our loser neighbor who runs a ‘boarding’ house tried to rent the space on the street in front of their house to……a cab over camper, the dude unloaded it off of his pickup and camped there for two days….he even had a couch on the shaded side of the camper.
I guess (rightfully so) enough neighbors called Police and on a Sunday evening police were there and two hours later the camper was put back on to the pickup and a tow truck put them on a flatbed and took away.

The city is not willing to do anything about this house, but they were quick to respond when another neighbor posted photos online of what a junkyard that place is.
It’s pretty pathetic when couriers refer to it as the Sanford & Son house.
After this loser neighbor was hit by code enforcement to clean up their dump, they removed their muffler in order to punish all of the neighbors as they come home at 2am, 4am etc.

@Chicken Little, I’ll take things that didn’t happen for $500

@Chicken Little

That cannot be true. RVs don’t comply with State law and building codes in terms of being designated a legal and permanent “dwelling unit” under the ADU laws.

I’m sure what they’re doing isn’t legal (I was being facetious about having Newsom’s blessing), but they most certainly do have an RV parked in their front lawn with somebody living in it.

House them in Newsome’s yard!

Newsome also owns a vineyard in Napa, and I’m sure there’s acres of land that he can house some of these nice folks.

Great idea to house the street scum on NewGrease’s vineyard. Perhaps Ms. NewGrease can offer them lemonade and cookies baked by her lovely children. Perhaps the children can set up a lemonade stand.

These homeless camps should be removed from freeways, creeks, and other rights-of-way.

They are eminent hazards to the public, public and private property, and the environment.

Street scum camps are an eminent hazard!!!
To whom exactly???
Not to any VIPs or their loved ones so who cares.
Who cares?
They will care when one of their own is assaulted, robbed, spat upon.
Can’t wait. Yummy.

Homeless/drug addicts in Heather farms, civic park and places where you and your your little ones like to spend quality time= disaster
Vote new smart leadership in Walnut Creek, not fools who just acre about themselves and their stodgy Arts

By the way, the local homeless industry trolls sites like this (The Other won’t be named) and The Other complies when asked to remove the anti-homeless comments. Cowards.

Has it become clear the homeless drug addicts are endangering themselves yet? Why are they allowed to fill our beautiful wild areas with human biowaste? If they aren’t arsonists, then what are they? Certainly they are endangering the tax paying citizens.

More climate change in Newsomville. Send money…….

Sorry these folks choose this lifestyle as they do not want to obey rules or do the right thing.

They such funds from the system way to much because they are allowed by the enablers. If they are given a place to stay they destroy that as they have no respect for themselves let alone society.

My sympathy has been exhausted due to the destruction they cause. They put on their sad little faces for the enablers and camera crews and once they are gone they return to their non law abiding ways of destruction, setting fires, stealing, destroying property and then they have the nerve to blame everyone but themselves.

Set up work camps and make them pay their way for all the freebies they get from tax payers and law abiding citizens.

Sick and tired of Newscum-Pelosi-Feinstein-Schumer-Harris(with her perennial smirk on her face) and all the Liberals and socialists trying to destroy our America.

Chicken Little, How frustrating for you. You must be losing your mind. Do your neighbors own the home?

Anon, a potato stuck in a muffler will keep it quiet.

they should have just let the fire burn itself out and dig fire lines around it so it doesn’t spread
