California’s power grid operator issued a statewide flex alert from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. today as high temperatures are expected to cause an increase in electricity use and strain the state’s power grid.
The California Independent System Operator is expecting increased air conditioning usage across the state due to the unseasonable high heat on the West Coast.
Residents are encouraged to reduce their energy use during the flex alert window by not using unnecessary lights and major appliances, setting household thermostats to 78 degrees or higher and using fans rather than air conditioning units.
The National Weather Service has also issued a heat advisory for the Bay Area, spanning from 11 a.m. Thursday to 9 p.m. Friday, with temperatures expected in the upper 90s and 100s, particularly in inland areas.
Residents of the Bay Area are encouraged to follow county and state public health guidelines for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

I have an idea. It’s a little radical but I think with some time people can get used to it: produce more power.
I know it may seem a little fringe to people these days but I hope in the future when people are more tolerant the idea of producing more power will be widely accepted and mainstream.

Since we have an electricity shortage, California should mandate that all cars be gas powered. Ban electric cars.

Solar begins tapering off in late afternoon and on hot days winds usually die down and that’s their big future for this state.
CA used to have what were known as peaker plants specifically built to handle hot day demand.
Liberal politicians made them go away.
Their experimenting on you, like abused lab rats in a maze, with their greenness and you have the privilege of paying for it with HIGH taxes, HIGH utility rates and best for less power outages.

Like many here, I wonder…how will our states infrastructure support all electric cars when we don’t have the juice to keep the lights on? Is it me or should the governor explain to us just what the hell is going on? This is some Gray Davis Enron level corruption. We are gonna need some answers on this.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Gray Davis recalled for raising DMV fees, something Newson has done since taking office, also.
