Three rainstorms are expected in the Bay Area starting today through early next week, a National Weather Service forecaster said.
The most intense rain will occur this afternoon and evening.
Forecasters expect urban areas to receive no more than a half an inch of precipitation while the hills and North Bay valleys may see three-quarters of an inch. Coastal mountains may get as much as an inch and a half, weather officials said.
“It’s definitely been a dry year,” NWS meteorologist Brooke Bingaman said. “We still have a lot of gains to be made” to reach the normal level of rainfall for the year.
The longer-range forecast shows precipitation 40 to 60 percent below normal for February.
The second storm is expected late Saturday morning in the North Bay and again will spread south during the day. Up to a half an inch is forecast for the North Bay and coastal ranges while other locations are expected to get less than a quarter of an inch.
The third storm on Monday will be like the second in the amount of rain.
An we went thru the dire predictions last year, yet it turned out not to bad.
As of today rain amounts next 10 days forecast for Concord are disappointing.

Out by the Pavilion, it rained pretty good for about 20 minutes. Other than that it was just sprinkles.

I could’ve commented earlier (around the last part of November) that there’s not going to be any supercharged storms, or even very many showers. I shelled out for a complete roof redo, so I really do hate to be the one to tell y’all, but for that reason alone we’re in for at least one dry winter and maybe more, or worse. If I hadn’t done it, it would be dumping buckets. I had to though, even knowing the what outcome would be. I held off as long as I could, and if I hadn’t done it all of my stuff would be getting soaked right now. It’s just a simple case of Murphy’s law.
Whew, Silva! I’ve been worrying that the dry winter is because I stored the patio furniture cushions too soon.
