All information is from the Contra Costa County Health Dept.:
- Total cases (since March) – 64,573
- Recovered cases – 62,849
- Deaths – 734
- Total active confirmed cases – 990
- Nursing home deaths – 313
- 5 active outbreaks in nursing homes
Contra Costa County COVID-19 Hospital Data:
- Patients currently hospitalized – 39
- Occupied ICU beds – 130
- Available ICU beds – 28
The State will move Contra Costa County to the “Orange Tier” once the following three criteria have been met for two consecutive weeks:
- CASE RATE: 1.0 – 3.9 daily new cases (per 100k) (currently 7.0)
- POSITIVEY RATE: 2.0 – 4.9% positive tests for entire county (currently 2.2%)
- EQUITY METRIC: Less than 5.3% positive tests for health equity quartile (currently 4.1%)
K-6 School Reopening:
- Schools have been allowed to reopen since February 9, 2021.
What is an EQUITY METRIC?
As far as I can tell, “equity metric” are the brand new progressive left’s favorite faddish buzz words. It looks like they have imposed some sort of subjective “measure” on “equality,” and called it an “equity metric.”
Makes it sound “scientific.”
OH now ya went an opened a can of worms,

“Equity Metric. Ensure that the test positivity rates in its most disadvantaged neighborhoods, referred to as the Health Equity Quartile of the Healthy Places Index census tracts, do not significantly lag behind its overall county test positivity rate, as described in detail below.”

Appears they’re using Covid as an excuse force social engineering without any legislative oversight. Likely whole thing will end up in the Courts.

In the abstract the equity metric sort of makes sense. It prevents a county from just testing a ton of people who are able to shelter themselves from the virus.
But the whole model of pandemic response has thrown the working class under the bus. There is the stay at home class, who moralize about being “safe”, and there is the class that makes and delivers stuff form them…
If we really wanted a string response to this virus, as opposed to a response that keeps richer people safe, we would have emphasized restrictions much less and offered a lot more resources. If everybody who got Covid could immediately get a free hotel room, the people living with their elderly relatives would have taken advantage of it.
This is an obvious shift toward socialized medicine which has existed in Britain for decades. The British model proves it is a faulty system for the delivery of healthcare with Britain having, in fact, some of the worst healthcare on the planet. The seriously ill wait months, even years, for treatment and surgeries, suffering needlessly in the interim. British socialism is a major factor in the expatriation of wealthy and successful Brits relocating offshore from their homeland which began in earnest in the 1970s. They became exiles from the British taxation rates on their income to provide socialized medicine to everyone..
This “equity metric” opens the door to increased taxation to provide a socialized medicine approach in California. It dilutes the protections offered by Proposition 13 to property owners and renters alike. It justifies staggering personal income taxes increases by the State, redistributed to Counties to fulfill a plan which, at this point, the federal government is offering to the entire world by way of its failed immigration policy. It drives large and successful business out of California. And, finally, it mitigates a severely flawed and destructive response to a pandemic which will effect the State’s economy for years to come.
Taxpayers need representation in Sacramento and in Washington, DC, and it doesn’t appear our elected representatives are providing it.

OK I have read some of these things that should clear up Equity Metric. All I see is words with no actual facts. It is like a fifteen hundred page bill out of congress .
