Contra Costa County Public Works will begin construction of the 2021 Countywide Curb Ramp Project on Monday, June 7, 2021 through August, 2021, barring unforeseen circumstances.
Work will occur from 7 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, weather permitting.
Construction will begin in North Richmond, then move to the Alamo, Castle Hill, Clyde and around the North Concord area.
The work consists of removing existing curb and sidewalk and construction of new curb, gutter, and sidewalk to construct over 200 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps at various locations.
How about a sidewalk on Taylor Blvd between Contra Costa Blvd and Alhambra Ave so kids can actually walk to CPHS and DVC?
The design of that area is moronic.
The design of that are was originally created to give a “rural” feel. People who first moved out from Oakland/SF wanted a country “feel” and sidewalks aren’t very country or rural. And back then there was no intention of multiple developments and houses being smushed together.
Not to say they can’t change it now, but it is important that people understand the original intent. Also I grew up in Lafayette and walked a bit over a mile from my home to Acalanes and had no sidewalk until I go to Pleasant Hill Rd and there was no problem with me or other kids walking. Perhaps the kids you are speaking of are a bit to soft
7 kids that I know of have be in serious accidents on that stretch.
Fix the potholes. I pay a Concord city tax, two county taxes, and a state tax on everything I buy – even online – and these fat-pensioned, moronic officials can’t even fix the pot holes.
We had those ramps put in around Pleasant Hill and what a waste of money. It was determined that it would have been cheaper to hire an assistant for those with disabilities who may actual use it rather than the curbs. This approach assumes they will actually be utilized. They’re not.
For all that is holy, would you PLEASE pave Willow Pass Rd between Landana and Hwy 4 on ramps?
