An Amber Alert has been issued for a kidnapped baby in Pittsburg, according to the CHP.

I noticed a lot of comments on the Facebook side that said the alert scared them.
Those same comments may show up here too.
No one seemed to want to mention that a child had been abducted, the horror of the parents and family of the abducted child or what danger she may be in now.
Heartless and self-serving people should be ashamed of themselves.

After they clarified that the child was already found it was funny someone left a comment on their Twitter page that said “thanks for waking me up“. After knowing the situation was already resolved that comment made my day. Those alerts are loud!

I disabled it from my phone after my last haircut. (that turned into a crew cut… but now I’m starting to like it).

And yes Cellophane, that Amber alert on the cell phone made us jump out of our chairs too…. but nobody’s saying it wasn’t for a good reason.
where was the Mother when the child was in the Van presumably alone?
Aunt Barbara – The news reported that the child was with the father, who stepped out of the van to talk to someone. A woman came up to them asking for a cigarette, then jumped in the van and took off. It’s not like the child was being neglected.
It’s a cautionary story about why we should always take the keys with us when we step out of a car. We just don’t get the horrible freezing temperatures here that would justify leaving the engine and heater running.

If only such a loud alert could be used to wake up voters. Then perhaps we would see a reduction in crime.
Stranger abductions should be one of the only alerts we see…we have been inundated with the crying wolf syndrome of the amber alerts. People are pretty much ignoring them now because most are not stranger abductions, but are usually custody battles between parents when the child is not returned to the other parent in a timely fashion. And then we have the timing of this. The child was found before the amber alert went out. Its a clunky system but its apparently all we have right now.
Even in abductions in custody battles, they usually only use the Amber Alert if the child is believed to be in danger. Far too many kids are murdered by a parent during divorce and custody battles.
