California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who three years ago placed a moratorium on executions, now is moving to dismantle the nation’s largest death row by moving all condemned inmates to other prisons within two years.
The goal is to turn the section at San Quentin State Prison into a “positive, healing environment,” according to ABC7 News in Los Angeles.
QUESTION: Do you think death row should be dismantled?

This is obviously another attempt by Newsome to circumvent the law of the land and abolish the Death Penalty. If he doesn’t like the law he should promote a ballot measure and accept the outcome as the will of the people whatever that decision may be.
How does he even have the authority to do that? There are seven hundred on death row in California and it seems he would have to spare all of them individually. The guy is nothing but a clown.

Voters said we should execute those who have been convicted of a heinous crime. So we should dictate that … and not Newscum.
Gavin should spend a week there as a prisoner so he can see how wonderful the inmates are.

I’m all for rehabilitation but these men (women?) have killed other human beings. How is this supporting the victims families?
Death row inmates aren’t being executed anyway, but placing them in general population is not a good idea. Some of them are pure evil and should never be allowed out of their cells. Richard Allen Davis is the epitome of evil, he should never be allowed to breathe the same air, or ever see the light of day.
Newsom is too much of a narcissist to care what the people of California want, and will do what he wants to do, and is making a mockery of the prison system by turning San Quentin’s death row into a nursery.

He really needs to go. voters twice voted for the death penalty and he is not in any way doing what the people wanted. In his own words My family and I do not believe in the death penalty. He does what ever he wants and believes, that is not the job of one elected official to override the will of the people. Him and the democrats have destroyed this state, and crime is heading out of control while they make it tougher for us to get and own guns to protect ourselves from the mess they have created. The people who need a “positive, healing environment” are the families of the victims of these death row inmates. A “positive, healing environment” should describe someone’s home – not a prison.

It has become clear to many people that the voting process in CA is no longer functioning in a reliable and transparent manner. We have radical Marxist DA’s and county boards who are supposed to provide oversight to the elections offices. Yet we have learned that many CA counties are not cleaning out their voter rolls as required including CCCounty. We have the motor-voter law enacted which is automatically registering illegal immigrants to vote and whether they do or not isn’t the point because their info can be hijacked and used to create 2-10 million illegal votes. Because of vote fraud CA has become a Marxist cultural experimental zone and the stupid laws and mandates are glorified in the fake media as an example for others to follow. We need to move on from wondering why Newsom and the state legislature and local Marxist clowns were elected to realizing that they are likely illegitimate. The foxes are guarding the hen house. We might soon have a national anti-Marxist counter movement to bring focus onto the state and to help us clean it out.

San Quentin is simply about the real estate opportunity, hence playing musical prisons.
As far as Newsom’s wish for a healing environment for murderers, their moment of healing is when the lights go out the final time. And coincidently this is probably when the victims families begin to heal also.
He is going to use it to house folks who don’t go along with his authoritarian regime.

No, you usually are no placed on Death Row for doing something good in your life. There have been a few exceptions. Once a prisoner is sent to death row there should be a maximum of several years before he is hung, shot, injected, or torched.
He just continually ignores how the people voted on this issue….YET the majority in this state still vote for him?!? I just don’t get it….He doesn’t care what we the people say. Why would anybody think that he is the right choice?!?

I wonder if any government official has had a close loved one murdered in the worst way? If they have, would they still support this decision? Would they still be ok with the killer on death row for that murder be alright with knowing they will probably never be executed as was ordered by a jury of their peers? Do our votes even count anymore? Wasn’t it in 1976 the people of CA voted to enact the death penalty? Why does one person get to change what the majority voted in? What is wrong with this picture? People complain about the people overturning what we wanted yet they are voted back in. Nothing will change as long as the people in charge don’t change.

To those who wonder why he got re-elected… look at the population centers, the coast, big cities, etc. They all look like he thinks and these are the people who elect him. If you were to look at the actual election districts ao many go to his opponents but they don’t have the number of votes needed to beat where the largest populations sit. Until that changes, expect more of the same.
