A shooting occurred in the parking lot outside of BJ’s restaurant on Contra Costa Blvd. in Concord tonight.
Police say about 25 callers phoned the police to say they heard the shots. A vehicle was located with bullet holes, and shell casings were found on the ground. Police also found what they say was a “live round” in the parking lot, near Round 1.
The suspect vehicle was described as a newer model four-door Mercedes with tinted windows.
So far, no injuries have been reported.
UPDATE: Another vehicle was located with damage from gunshots.
UPDATE: The suspect were two Asian males with ponytails, according to police. The suspect vehicle had blue, green and red LED lights near the wheels, police said.

Aftermarket tinting is not entirely illegal in California.
The back passenger windows and back window can be as dark as the owner wishes, however the front windows can’t exceed a certain level of darkness, and the windshield cannot have any after market market tint on it.
Yes, perhaps they should start pulling people over for expired registration and (aftermarket) front and/or windshield tint, and we might see a drop in this kind of crime.

I work at the mall, we close at 9 p.m. I left at 9:30, lots of police cars and activities. I wanted to go to Safeway, I needed wine and a snack, were able to get there, by making a U-turn and entering from Contra Costa Blvd. Not the first time I have noticed police activities in that area, when leaving work.

That city has been responsible for literally 95% of the crime we see in Concord, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, whether it be property crime or violent crime. It’s time we recognize it.

I agree, not sure why Antioch always gets blamed. I know they have crime there as do other cities, not sure what the percentage is. I have many customers from Antioch and Pittsburg, all seem like nice middle class people, I realize criminals might not shop at Macy’s, but certainly Antioch and other areas have a thriving middle class, who work, take care of their kids like other families in other areas.

Don’t kid yourselves. Plenty of inept Concord parents raise feral delinquents. Many of the worst settle out in exurban slums like Pitt / Yoch / Vallejo / Fairfield after starting adulthood in the CYA ’cause they get priced out third-tier suburbs like Concord and Pinole, but enough manage to stick around or boomerang and cause trouble in the old ‘hood.

So true about tinted windows on cars! They’re supposedly illegal but all the lower end seems to have them.
Funny how many Mercedes are involved in crime these days. My view they’re hardly the cars that are prestigious anymore.

That idiot George Gascon chose not to charge the guy with a felony who attacked Dave Chappelle! The weapon was a fake gun with a very real knife blade attached. It’s looks like his recall may make the ballot. If we can get rid of Gascon and vote out Becton, this may improve things a little.
