With Contra Costa and other Bay Area counties seeing a swell in COVID cases, health officials are reiterating their strong recommendation to wear masks indoors.
Omicron subvariants, which are even more contagious than the original Omicron, are driving the recent increase in cases. Outbreaks in workplaces and schools have also sharply increased in the past few weeks.
While masking remains optional for most public indoor settings, health officials say wearing face covering during periods of increased transmission is a simple best practice to protect against COVID.
“There’s a lot of COVID out there right now, so it’s time to mask up indoors in public again,” said Dr. Ori Tzvieli, health officer for Contra Costa County.
Dr. Tzvieli said people should also stay home if they feel sick and get tested. He added that people eligible for booster shots should get one since protection from the COVID vaccines wane over time.

How many is a lot of Covid? Is there 7 Covid? Maybe 500 Covid? Maybe 1,000,000? So many Covids! I’m unvaxxed and will take my chances.
Today’s report from the County Health Department shows 352 cases in Concord in the past 14 days. Walnut Creek had 321. These numbers don’t include the most recent seven days. The total for the County was 3,545 cases.

We are unvaxxed. I got a mild case of Covid in March 2022.
Hubby didn’t get it. He has never had a flu yet either.

I will not even think about this. The answer is a resounding ‘NO!’
No more masks. I now only wear a mask inside of my church because they asked us to consider it based on the elderly population present. About 1/3 of the folks in the church do not. The rest do. I do not feel obligated to wear one and I have even removed it a couple of times without thinking.
The health department is not on my, or even your side. They are trying to be a scary monster, but they are nothing. Absolutley nothing.
I guess mask mandate and vaccination is going to be back next week. Who know they might use the virus as an excuse for lockdown to prevent big protests when The Supreme Court reverse the roe v wade.

Why doesn’t the health department and news media provide everyday news coverage just like they do with Covid, to boycott all ultra processed food , otherwise we may become a victim of heart disease? We’ve seen brawls to get some cheap TV during thanksgiving black Friday sales.
We’ve seen people fight over TP.
We’ve seen do crash and smash of luxury items in affluent shopping areas, such as the one at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek recently.
Not too much of a departure to do a smash and crash at your favorite grocery store to get food. Interesting times indeed.
And in the meantime, $40 billion is being sent to Ukraine, there’s a baby formula shortage, inflation, more taxes, gas prices, but hey let’s not focus on these issues and distract the public with covid will forever be around.

Our so called leader said in his state of the union address that his first responsibility as president “is to protect Americans “. Hmmmmm. Was that before or after 13 American soldiers lost their lives in Afghanistan as a direct result of his hubris and incompetence? I’m not taking a side either way, but am curious, how many who refuse the Covid vaccines also refuse the shingles one (well, actually two)?
I will say, I took both because I do have the fear of what these ailments could do to me.
I’m older and I know that even mild cases can result in long-Covid. So, I don’t want a even mild case.
Do I trust government or Big Pharma? No.
Do I think anyone must knuckle under to mandates? No.
But back to my original question, where do you draw the line in accepting vaccines? Thanks & peace out.
That would be me. Research led me to reject covid vaxx, and research led me to reject the shingles vax as well. In fact, I was onboard for both of these jabs at first…glad I did my homework.
Meanwhile, in the Free States of this nation we are doing just fine. A few people get the weakened Communist Chinese Bioweapon, but we aren’t seeing wild-eyed crazy people driving with masks on, or people dying off in mass numbers. The housing market is still strong. And life is good.
