The Contra Costa Elections Division would like residents to know their staff and volunteers are ready for Election Day.
Early Voting Sites will be open today and polling places will be open from 7 am until 8 pm on Election Day, June 7.
Voters are encouraged to return their ballots by mail, postmarked on or before Election Day or drop their ballot off at one of the County’s 37 official drop boxes in order to avoid waiting in line.
“Vote by Mail is now the law moving forward in California, and it remains the easiest and fastest way to vote and return your ballot.” said Clerk-Recorder-Registrar Debi Cooper, the County’s top Elections Official. “All you need to do to cast your ballot is to return it by mail or put it into one of our official ballot boxes, located throughout the County. In-person voting will still be available, and we would like to remind voters that if they vote early, their vote will be included in the initial count on election night.”

Tip: Unless you love crime, don’t vote for Becton.

A writeup about George Soros and local elections, says it all: “The Five Worst Prosecutors in America: Inexperienced, contemptuous of the law, more concerned with criminal defendants than crime victims, and arrogant in the extreme: a wrecking crew for American cities.”
Diana Becton isn’t mentioned — but Soros donated over a $1 million dollars to her campaign.

If you wish to vote in person rather than mail in or drop off:
Go to your polling location. You will give up your mailed ballot. It will be torn in front of you.
It will be replaced by a new ballot designed to be inserted into the machine at that location.
You might want to bring a condensed version of voting preferences to mark the new ballot correctly and expediently.
I did this last year and will again do it this year.
I feel it no longer matters how people vote.
Who will be elected to which position has already been decided.
Voting merely appeases those who believe the people have a say.
+1
I hate to say it but I think that just might be true.
Already decided?
Not in 2016 it wasn’t… that’s when the Democrats found out they didn’t cheat hard enough.
They didn’t make the same mistake in 2020.
@cellophane
I kind of feel that way myself.
I feel that way as well, particularly when certain Propositions that increase costs to the average citizen, or that raise taxes (terrible irony to hear those same people who voted for tax increases crab about their taxes increasing) pass.
Mail in ballots are ridiculous. #fraud
I’ve messaged several Editors of the EB Times telling them that they are supposed to be an unbiased news reporting media – not with political overtones … ie… their nonstop ballot recommendations leaning you know where…. do they ever respond or stop publishing their recommendations? … noooooooooo I’ve given up on them for just about anything factual…. the comics are the best part these days… They didn’t even publish results on the Indy 500 the next day
A few years ago I was working as poll worker one election. It was an overcast damp dreary day. An elderly African American couple was making their way to the polling station with great difficulty as there was a slight incline leading up to the polling station. The gentleman was using a walker and struggling quite a bit. His wife was assisting him but she was also suing a walking stick. After they cast their ballots, I offered them the option of using an absentee ballot next time. The gentleman explained to me that 50 years ago when he tried to get to the polls they unleashed attack dogs on him. Said he has never missed going to the polls since and as long as he has a breath he will continue to do so.
Thank you for sharing that story.
@Barbosa
Like Clam Bake said, thanks for sharing that good story.
I believe it was Gandhi who said ” All political power comes from the barrel of a gun.”
I take my ballot directly inside at the Martinez Registrar’s office. That way I know it won’t get lost or tied up in the mail. They then send an email notice that it has been received since I signed up for that kind of notification before then.
Should we start a Becton recall after Becton won?
Like Dems say, vote early, vote often.
Like Republicans say “We lost? Must be voter fraud. Count again.”
@Russ
When did Hillary C. and Stacey A. become republicans?
Our ballots are the most messed up thing I have ever seen. With the number of people to choose from in all state wide issues there is no way the results will be fair. There has to be a primary for republicans and democrats or there will never be a republican elected to a statewide post. I don’t understand why the Republican Party Headquarters is not making a huge fuss over this.
Have you been to the Republican Party Headquarters lately? There’s a For Lease sign in the window.
Is there someone even in charge of the California Party?
Ricardoh,
The Republican Party headquarters isn’t making a “huge fuss” about the California open primary system because they agreed to be a part of the California open primary system for all partisan offices except for the office of President which is a closed primary office only available for registered Republican voters to vote in.
You are completely wrong when you say a closed primary system is necessary for a Republican candidate to move forward to the general election, what would be required would be the abolishment of the “jungle primary” system that allows only the top-two primary vote getters to move forward to the general election.
For a Republican primary candidate to have the best chance of moving forward as a candidate in the general election under the current top-two vote getter system is for only one Republican candidate to run in the primary. The best chance the Republicans have in moving forward to the general election and actually win an office in November for a statewide office is in the race for California State Controller because Lanhee Chen is the only Republican running in the race.
Ewing 23 Sorry don’t agree. If the Republicans voted in their own primaries there wouldn’t be a top two winner thing. This system is rigged. I will not be convinced otherwise.
Ricardoh,
Even if we had closed primaries only the top two vote getters would appear on the ballot because that’s the system California voters put in place via the “Proposition” ballot initiative system.
You are also incorrect when you said “There has to be a primary for republicans and democrats or there will never be a republican elected to a statewide post.” Have you forgotten Lundgren, Simon, Whitman, and Kashkari? They were all nominated based on the votes of Republican voters for Governor of California and they all lost. Republican voters have a tendency to vote for candidates that are to conservative to win in today’s California. An open primary helps Republicans nominate a more moderate candidate that can win in California as long as Republicans run attractive, dynamic, and moderate candidates. Look at the California State Legislature as an example, it is made up of three factions, a supermajority of Democrats made up of liberal to progressive coastal California Democrats and moderate to liberal central California Democrats, while the third faction is made up of moderate to conservative eastern, central, and southern California Republicans. Winning requires winning over the moderate voters with nominated candidates that fit California of today.
We didn’t receive ballots. I wonder where they went.
Rest assured, your ballot has been taken care of, just like the ones sent to the graveyard.
I’m sure that “someone” put them to good use.
Unfortunately, as we all know California is a one party state. If you have a D next to your name when running for office, your chances of winning has significantly increased. I always vote still hoping for change, but the masses follow their party no matter how much they destroy our quality of life.
As I’ve said before, I don’t think that is actually the issue. Most of the public is probably not enough interested in politics to care so when elections come around they just vote for the incumbents unless one of those ticks them off.
You’re absolutely right.
I don’t understand how people see their own quality of life declining but refuse to even consider for a half a second that some of it might be do to the choices they made on election day…..It is baffling to me.
But I do not expect that to change.
And we all know that the D stands for Dummy or another more appropriate synonym…
Chris,
This is why ballots should only state a candidates name, while a candidates party preference and occupation should not appear on ballots. This change would require greater voter knowledge, as a voter should know more than party preference and a candidates occupation, especially in the case of incumbent office holders.
Now is not the time to give up. Vote! We can’t catch the cheat unless there is something to compare it to.
Fix California!
Very true!
We need a landslide. California likely has enough corrupt people to scrub off adequate lucid votes in the close races. So let’s not make the races close at all. Send the message to these politicians they are out because their policies stink.
Giving up is certainly not the answer but it is quite disheartening watching what our system has become.
.
Will members of the Black Panthers be stationed outside polling places to help people vote?
.
What about the voting box outside of Concord city hall. Is that still available today?
The City Hall Voting Drop Box is located on Parkside, near to the curb.
It’s fairly simple to deliver a few thousand pre-marked ballots without arousing suspicion.
Reinette Senum for Governor! Why not? Time to dismantle the two party system.
No on G!
.
Becton… soft on crime and prosecution.
.
Any vote for Becton means you support lawlessness and crime.
.
Don’t be duped. Vote for Knox!

If you want positive change, then stop voting Democrat,…at least for now. Democrats have had a super-majority in California, but nothing is changing for the better. I pretty sure Republicans would do equally in the way of damage if they had a super-majority, for more than a decade. Our system corrects itself if it moves too far, to the right or the left,…..so, don’t be afraid to ignore “team orders” and vote with your conscience.
Thank you. When I hear “you support x, so you must be left, and you must vote accordingly,” or “you support y, so you must be right, and you must vote accordingly,” I just shake my head. You don’t have to follow marching orders, you don’t have to download any party’s new system software update, you have the right to think for yourself and vote for what you believe.
From the imagination of the radio HOF great Jim Eason “DRIP on ’em”
Don’t Re-elect Incumbent Politicians!!!
Thanks! Anyone that voted for an individual based on their party (or tries to justify their vote by voting the party line) is obviously incapable of thinking for themselves and has no critical thinking skills.
And the same goes for politicians who vote in lockstep with their party. They’ve forgotten that they are supposed to represent the people. They don’t, despite their claims to the contrary.
Ewing 23, What a great concept.
