I live in Pacheco so there is no such thing as a thermostat here lol…
Without AC only set thermostat in Winter.
Inside temp usually between 71 & 81.
How about 80? If I was the boss it would be 78.
It off, the temp inside reflects what’s outside.

Cyn, As I get older the tougher it is. Still pay a lot in electric.
Thermostat is only on in the winter. I don’t have central air. There is a through the wall AC but rarely used. New shingles installed 15 years ago keep the heat our unfortunately in winter too.
FYI, I generally can tolerate internal house temps up to 83 degrees before turning on the AC. It has to be over 100 degrees outdoors for the house temp to be 83.
77 but super insulated so AC usually doesn’t kick until early evening for a few hours.
Ours is set at 80 degrees for the A/C.
My wife would just die Roz…no way could she handle 80.

I don’t like heat, but my Hubby is fine, even at 100 degrees.
I sometimes put a wet bandana around my neck till the timer of the thermostat comes on at 5 PM.
AC is off. We get plenty cool at night in Concord to use trapped night air and fans.
Usually 74. Unless it’s a super hot day, it doesn’t come on until after noon or later.
Between 78 and 80.
at 75. usually helps in the hot days.

This house HVAC system set 78, other house has swamp cooler with UP-DUX ceiling vents in bedrooms and living room.
Leaving doors and windows closed swamp cooler is turned on low, five UP-DUX open each exhausting 900 cubic feet per minute into attic space cooling it then whirlybird turbines pull hot air out of attic. Keeps house comfortably cool while using only 7.2 amps 110Vac. Keeps electricity bill low.
Between wet cooling pads and 35 watt UVC lamp peat fire smoke hasn’t been an issue. Cooler also has low volume water bleed off, keeps water fresh while keeping salt and mineral buildup low.

79 or 80 for Summer weather and 70 in Winter. Just fine. PG&E bill runs around $150 – $250 per month. Just fine as well.
It’s at 70 for our 4/3 tri level in Clayton. We love a cold house!
No we don’t care we have a $600+/month electric bill either in the summer.

72. No electricity charge. Solar still sending excess electricity to PG&E. Got a larger system than needed because I expect to buy an electric car.
Hours is off! Only turned on at the end of the day when the heat builds up too much. Early a.m. we open all the windows and even use box fans to blow in the cold night air. Then lock the house up tight and pull the drapes it stays cool until about 5:00 p.m. . Then every few hours I’ll bring the temperature down to 76.
We were always good at economizing. And now we have to with this Biden economy!

No A/C, so my thermostat is off until 11/15.
Me too. I have trees. Fans. Open windows, then close. It can get up to 89 with constant high temperatures. Fortunately this has been a cooler summer, but expect the usual hot August and September.
We work at home so try to keep most operations before noon. Use various methods for extreme temps. Foot baths, ice packs, even tepid showers will bring a stiffled gasp. Feels cold!
I remember my grandmothers and the clothing they wore. Born in the later 1800’s, you can imagine what they suffered.
This time of year it’s in the “off” position. No a/c.
82 but have ceiling fans in every room and 2 of them in the larger rooms.
I keep mine at 82 but A/C is turned off most of the time. We have learned to adapt to current temps. Keep windows open for cross draft & lots of ceiling fans.
