Three Seats Open On Lafayette City Council

The City of Lafayette opened the filing period for candidates interested in running for the Lafayette City Council.

City Council Candidates must be a registered voter and a qualified elector of the City of Lafayette, including to be at least 18 years of age and a United States citizen.

Nomination papers for City Council Candidates will be issued by appointment only during regular business hours starting on July 18 and ending on August 12, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. If an incumbent does not file during this period, non-incumbent candidates will have until 5:00 p.m. on August 17, 2022 to file nomination papers. The Lafayette City Council consists of five members elected at large on a non-partisan basis. In November, voters will elect two City Councilmembers for full 4-year terms and one City Councilmember for a 2-year term. The terms of Susan Candell, Teresa Gerringer and Wei-Tai Kwok expire in November.

The City Clerk conducts the election process, while voter registration and voting are coordinated with Contra Costa County.
