The Concord City Council on Tuesday will consider revisiting its policy concerning people being able to buy and use the city flag.
According to a staff report for Tuesday’s meeting, the city’s policy for its official flag covers flag protocol and where the flag can be flown.
The report says “existing policy conflicts with the city’s efforts to control and manage the use of the city logo, as it allows anyone to purchase a City of Concord flag, creating opportunities for the flag’s use that are out of the city’s control.”
Staff recommends the city no longer allow individuals and businesses to purchase a city flag as part of the policy. Staff also recommends the council delete of a section of the policy referring to a city “banner,” as there is no city banner.
The current policy also doesn’t allow the mayor the ability to lower the city flag during periods of mourning or remembrance for individuals of significance to the city, such as when the President of Governor orders flags to be lowered. Existing policy does not provide the mayor with this authority, which staff recommends changing.

You took the words out of my mouth. I mean, how many flags do you see flying in the first place, let alone a City of Concord flag?

Seriously? Flag issues? WT*? Why not work on real problems? Crappy roads, homeless people, shoplifting, people not obeying traffic laws, residents that have no respect for their neighbors and sit in their backyard partying and blasting their music until well past midnight. I could keep going but you get the point. How do these people sleep at night? Do you honestly think flag misuse is a top priority right now?
Is there any problems with people flying the flag? Or is this like election fraud, create rules to keep people under their control.

Everyone grab your wallet and cover your ass. They are trying to distract us from something with the flag nonsense. Probably another try of ramrodding Edi Birsan’s utopian view of rent control.
Seriously? This issue warrants discussion amongst the City Council?
I know that there are many, many far more important issues that are of concern to the residents of the city of Concord.
Why wouldn’t they concentrate their efforts on issues that are a bit more meaningful and important than the use of the city’s flag and the flag protocol?
No one wants to fly the Concord City flag because this city is a woke embarrassment.
Seriously, who cares? Unless the flag is being used to choke people to death, what do they care if it is being used ‘unofficially?’ And how does one to that, exactly?
