A familiar retail space in Concord is entering a new phase as Dollar Tree prepares to move into the former $.99 Store building at the intersection of Clayton Road and Bailey Road. The location has long served value-focused shoppers, and the transition reflects continued retail investment in this busy corridor.

At this time, an official opening date has not been announced. Like many retail conversions, the timeline depends on several factors, including interior renovations, inspections, staffing, and merchandising. Residents may begin to notice visible updates to the building as preparations move forward, signaling progress toward opening day.

The Clayton Road and Bailey Road intersection is a strategic choice for a national discount retailer. With strong traffic flow and high visibility, the site offers easy access for nearby neighborhoods. The former $.99 Store layout provides the space needed for a full Dollar Tree shopping experience, featuring household essentials, seasonal items, party supplies, and everyday goods at affordable prices.

Retail transitions often include upgrades that go beyond cosmetic changes. Improvements such as lighting updates, interior reconfiguration, and window replacement can enhance energy efficiency, improve curb appeal, and create a brighter, more inviting storefront for customers. These upgrades help modernize older retail buildings and extend their usability for years to come.

For the surrounding shopping center, the arrival of a recognizable national retailer can increase foot traffic and benefit neighboring businesses. A reopened storefront also contributes to a more active, welcoming commercial area for the community.

While shoppers will need to wait for official confirmation on the opening date, interest continues to build. As signage appears and renovations near completion, the former $.99 Store location is poised to reemerge as a familiar destination under a new name, reinforcing Clayton Road’s role as a key retail hub in Concord.

They took great panes to fix the problem.

Do we get to learn who the driver was that destroyed this frontage?? Did the driver “mistake the gas pedal for a brake pedal”??
BTW “Schmee” – lots of us have a PO Box located there. Closing the strip mall will really have a detrimental effect on us boxholder. Have you had mail stolen or your residential mailbox ripped-off? The only individual(s) that can rip-off a PO Box are PO employee(s) or someone breaking into the box! I am not crazy about the status of Be-Air Center but it is a convenient site.

.
It took a really long time because it’s ‘government’ and encumbered by ‘process’.
