“Tripledemic” Causing Shortage Of Children’s Medication In Contra Costa County, Throughout The Country

The so-called “tripledemic” of RSV, COVID-19 and the flu is causing a shortage of children’s medication in Contra Costa County and throughout the Country.

QUESTION: Have you had a hard time finding medication at your local drug store?

It is amazing to me how the United States of America can have shortages of baby formula, baby/infant Tylenol, etc. in this day and age. The USA and (CA) desperately needs to get their act together in most aspects of life.

I never look for medication at my local drug store, because I don’t take any. One thing to keep in mind when purchasing over the counter drugs is that acetaminophen, the main ingredient in Tylenol, is the number one cause of liver failure in the United States. Always read the ingredients of any drug you take. A lot of drugs such as cough syrup, and pain pills, contain acetaminophen, as do some prescription pain meds, such as Vicodin, and Percocet. It’s too easy to overdose on acetaminophen without realizing it. Let’s say a person has a prescription for Vicodin for his back pain, that person has a cold, so he buys some Tylenol, and cough syrup. Now he has three medications containing acetaminophen, he takes his prescribed Vicodin, for his pain, followed by Tylenol and cough syrup for his cold. That person just overdosed on acetaminophen. Doing this one time usually will not produce any side effects and there shouldn’t be any serious consequences, but over a period of time it can lead to liver damage, and liver failure.

It is not that easy to overdose, especially if you actually read what you take… You would have to be quite a moron to not realize the vast amounts of medications that Tylenol in then.

@ OH, PLEASE—As I outlined in my scenario, it is that easy to overdose on acetaminophen, and if alcohol is involved, acute liver failure can occur with as little as 4 grams of the drug. Last year there were 45,000 visits to the ER, 2,600 hospitalizations, and 500 deaths caused by acetaminophen overdoses. It has been my experience as an RN, that most people believe OTC drugs are safe, because they are sold without a prescription. So I wouldn’t call them morons because they lack knowledge of pharmaceuticals.

Thankyou, DAWG, for that information. I stopped using Ibuprofen a few years ago at my kidney doctor’s direction. I ‘ve only used Tylenol recently to relieve occasional headaches and difficulty getting to sleep. I will cut back or eliminate it ASAP, thanks to your information.

Glad to see someone else that understands these ‘drugs’ harm. Holistic all the way. Wake up people. Nebulizing Colidiol Silver and so many other real remedies are out there that don’t have side effect’s. If these last 3 years have taught us anything, it’s to not trust our government OR Big Pharma.

There is no excuse for medication shortages in the US. The cause of any medication shortage is not the so-called “tripledemic”. It is caused by poor planning, poor allocation of manufacturing capacity, and more than likely outsourcing our supply chain.

Yep. Every winter people get sick. This has been happening forever.

Flu and RSV were far less common than normal the past two winters, due to the measures people were taking to avoid getting Covid. I suppose it shouldn’t be shocking that some MBA at a pharmaceutical company would decide to dial back on production to avoid having to trash a significant amount.

So all 3 illnesses can be treated with the same medications? Might that mean that they are the same thing?

.
It’s fear that’s creating the shortage.
.
Fear and fearmongering spread by the media.

Yes! Went to Walgreens and Safeway and there was no children’s Tylenol OR Motrin. The shelves were EMPTY! Unbelievable.

@Mayor
Out of curiosity, why were a series of comments removed? Was some guideline breached?

.
Probably because the comments were flagged by the FBI, Washington Post, NY Times, NPR, White House staff, or local left-wing sympathizers.
.
Sound familiar?
