Here’s a fun question for Friday:

What should Claycord’s official animal mascot be?

Coyote? Eagle? Hawk? Owl? Bobcat? Mountain Lion? Cornsnake? Rattlesnake? Raccoon? Squirrel? Dog? Cat? River Otter? Duck? Cow? Horse? Tarantula? Other?

No turkeys, lol!

I’d like to suggest three in order. Why and why not. Third being last suggestion.
First, the Eagle. The Eagle is the Strongest and Bravest of all Birds and their feathers are a symbol of courage and bravery.
Second, the Bear. Symbolizes Dominion and Authority. Standing tall against adversities. Also speaks about protection and commitment.
Thirdly, the Coyote. The Trickster. Often breaking rules and does bring teachings, but thru mishaps.

California Toad January 21, 2023 - 6:29 AM - 6:29 AM

A toad, of course. Portly, fun-loving, a handsome animal, if a bit warty. But seriously, I’d say the California Scrub Jay: curious, eager for news, always ready to sound the alarm, a fearless and energetic denizen of greater Claycord, and also quite nice-looking with its slate-blue color. Have a great weekend, all!

Red Tailed Hawk – if not the dreaded Cornsnake

Cellophane January 21, 2023 - 8:17 AM - 8:17 AM

I think a Racoon would be a great mascot for Concord.

Robert E Ward January 21, 2023 - 8:34 AM - 8:34 AM

Red Skins, Warriors, Braves. Show the rest of the cities we are not affraid of using these types of names. They don’t offend anyone. If you went onto an Indian reservation they would tell you it doesn’t bother them that the Red Skins, Warriors or Braves are used as a mascot name.

Lying politicians. They’re everywhere in California.

.
All politicians lie
.
The main issue is the magnitude of the lie. Small exaggerations or political “spin” are generally harmless.
.
However, Obama stated to over 330 million US residents:
.
“If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor no matter what. Period.”
.
He knew darn well some would not be able to keep the doctor of their choice.
.
THAT WAS AN EPICLY HUGE LIE TOLD BY OBAMA.
