Walnut Creek Police Department Warning Residents About Home Burglaries

The following is from the Walnut Creek Police Department:

Walnut Creek Police are asking residents to take precautions to keep their homes safe.

Last night, the Walnut Creek Police Department responded to two residential burglaries and an attempted residential burglary between the hours of 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM.

At approximately 9:09 PM, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Rock Oak Road for an audible burglary alarm.

When officers arrived, they found a rear sliding glass door smashed and the interior rummaged through. The residence was not occupied at the time of the burglary. A witness reported seeing a black Mercedes sedan parked near the residence with three subjects associated to the vehicle in the area.

At approximately 9:30 PM, a resident, who was arriving home on Windchime Court, called police to report a small black sedan in the middle of the street and three subjects in dark clothing running away from a nearby home. The subjects got into the vehicle and fled the area with their lights off. That resident checked their home and found the rear sliding glass door smashed and an upstairs bedroom rummaged through.

Firearms may have been stolen in one of the burglaries, but we are still investigating.

It appears the suspects are targeting homes that are very dark during evening hours when residents may be out dining or shopping.

Keeping a car parked in the driveway, your home well-lit at night, and your backyard gates locked are deterrents. Please do not keep valuables in bedrooms, as they are usually targeted first in a burglary.

We are urging residents to take extra precautions and report suspicious activity to the police immediately by calling 9-1-1.

If anybody has information related to these incidents, please contact Detective Sergeant Joe Njoroge at 925-256-3573.

Hers’s a helpful hint, never let a valet park your car. A crooked valet can find the car’s registration, and send a text with your address to their friends, and they know you are not home.
If you must use a valet, take your registration with you, and anything else that has your address on it.

Good hints
I also fingerprint the valet, have him take a drug test, and remove the plates from my car.

Society is screwed when we cannot mention further description than “three subjects in a black Mercedes Benz.

When they don’t provide a description, that most certainly is a description.

Could it be the alleged perpetrators belong to a privileged group whose lives matter above all others?

Could it be it was dark at 9:30 and all they saw were silhouettes?
Why must you infer a particular race?

Windchime Court is located in the Rancho Paraiso area. That neighborhood has cameras mounted on each side of Arbolado Drive, the loop street which provides access to the entire subdivision.

Crimes like these are on the rise and will only get worse as the economy continues to plummet. I leave lights on 24/7 as a precaution and will eat the rising cost of electricity in the interest of safety. Having a dog who barks at anyone coming near the house also helps.

Go to the Animal Shelter and get a dog ! they have plenty that would love to greet a burglar and you could save a life. in return they will save yours.

In an effort to escape Governor Gavin’s dystopia, I moved from Walnut Creek to middle Tennessee last year. Things are a bit different here. When criminals commit crimes here, there are often steep penalties. First of all, there are a lot of good guys with guns, and I mean a lot! Criminals have to be smart enough to select their targets carefully or they may end up in the morgue. Should they survive their criminal activity, the local police and sheriffs actually pursue the perpetrators quite aggressively. They post pictures of crimes in progress, mug shots from past arrests, and when they catch them the local prosecutors actually prosecute them for their crimes, and judges and juries sentence them to appropriately long stints in jail. This approach is surprisingly effective. Communities are safe, crime is low, police are respected, and it’s pretty awesome. Perhaps, if Contra Costa County tried this approach… Never mind.

Congratulation on your move.
Over the past two years I’ve had three friends move with their families to Tennessee, and another to Kentucky. They all say the people are terrific, friendly, have block parties, and the kids play outdoors. And going to church is looked upon favorably.
They also say to get rid of your California license plates as soon as possible. And should you have to disclose you moved from California, be very quick to assure people you did not bring the goofy politics with you. That said, they all say they wish they had made the move sooner.

Matter of time until home invasions take place.

If there is no threat of incarceration,
there is no deterrence to criminal behavior

According to the FBI, Tennessee has the 4th highest violent crime rate in the US (2021 statistics). California is 20th, so much safer.
Liking their politics does not make it safe.

Tennessee crime is high because of Memphis and Nashville. Stay out of those cities and you will probably be fine.

It’s a matter of time before there is a shootout between the burglars and the homeowner, whereupon the homeowner will be aggressively prosecuted and there will be huge outcries to ban guns.

@BORBELIEVER- and family of criminal will be on local news presenting photos from his youth (with no mention of the yrs of crime their family member has been involved in) saying he was getting his life together if he’d only been given a chance , of course their lawyer will be there as well to present their lawsuit….
