I wish I could predict but I’m swinging with Philly. Just to keep the division alive. Personally a 9er fan but it’s a bit difficult to advance without a quarterback. Just to stay positive…there is always next year. Enjoy the game folks!!!

Hey Lil Bro ~
Believe or not, I have never made a German Chocolate cake yet.
I’ll have to put that one on my Buck List, … LOL!

Hanne Jeppesen February 11, 2023 - 12:30 PM - 12:30 PM

I commented earlier that Boston Cream pie was my favorite, because it is close the Danish layer cake. However, I have a girl friend that loves the German Chocolate cake, so one year for her birthday, when she had a party I made it for her, it is very good, and not all that hard to make if you like to bake.

Simonpure February 11, 2023 - 12:39 PM - 12:39 PM

I’ll be your sampler 🙂

Hanne Jeppesen February 12, 2023 - 5:21 PM - 5:21 PM

Even if you don’t like my politics you most likely would like my baking. I don’t bake as much as l use to, but l use to bake everything, brownies, cheesecakes, pound cakes. Whatever l made l added liquor, key lime cheesecake with rum, Kahlua brownies etc.

Captain Bebops February 11, 2023 - 10:19 AM - 10:19 AM

A) Boston Cream Pie. My mother made a good one but she also made the German Chocolate which I didn’t care for much. That’s her fault because she made dark chocolate drop cookies and would break off a piece of the chocolate for me to eat. Hence I’m not very fond of the lighter chocolates.

Hanne Jeppesen February 11, 2023 - 4:23 PM - 4:23 PM

Boston cream pie. I think l made once years ago. It resembles the Danish layer cake, which is usually served at birthday parties. We have different versions. It consist of 3 thin layer of sponge cake one the 1st and 2nd layer you macaroons ( the Italian hard kind) soaked in sherry, then a thin spread of raspberry jam, then top with vanilla custard, the top layer get decorated with a glaze often chocolate and then add whipped cream to the sides. I made 2 of them for my sixties birthday party. The Danish version of Boston cream pie, would be the 3 layers of sponge cake then vanilla custard, chocolate glaze or icing and then whipped cream. All very decadent, but delicious.

S February 12, 2023 - 7:11 AM - 7:11 AM

“B”, and of the cakes is in my top 5…

@DR. JELLYFINGER..…At least their electric guitars have wires, watching the old B&W Ed Sullivan Shows on meTV some of the old rockers have no wires, no mouthpieces for horns, forgetting lyrics, ect. A lot aren’t very good, to say the least, at lip-synching. Half of them look like they don’t know where they’re at….still entertaining to watch the “Big Big Shew”.

Dr. Jellyfinger February 15, 2023 - 8:03 AM - 8:03 AM

B. I’m not a chocolate kind of guy, but add coconut and walnuts with that dry cake, and it’s invited to my birthday every year.

S February 12, 2023 - 7:06 AM - 7:06 AM

When your bringing your frosting ingredients to a simmer, stir in a tablespoon of bourbon; maybe two, but not a full shot. Brings a nice boldness to the taste.

YUM

Hanne Jeppesen February 13, 2023 - 11:13 AM - 11:13 AM

As I mentioned earlier when I bake I like to add alcohol or liquer to whatever I’m baking, depending on what ever taste I want to bring out, not only to the batter, but also to whipped cream if the recipe calls for that, my favorites Ameretto, Orange flavored liquer, Kahlua, rum etc. blackberry or raspberry liquers.

Dr. Jellyfinger February 15, 2023 - 8:06 AM - 8:06 AM

Black Forest Cake!

Book report: The Day After Tomorrow (original title: Sixth Column); Robert A. Heinlein, 1941. (Yeah, I’m on a Heinlein binge). America has been totally taken over and the survivors are now slaves. Deep in a mountain, unknown to the invaders is a secret military science lab. They have found that there are extra dimensions to the electric-magnetic-gravitic fields. But discovery and trying to make it work accidentally kills all but 6 men. (This is where the original title comes in.) They set up what they call a sixth column to work against the invaders by setting up a religion with 4 new “gods” in order to use all the different do-dads they create. This is a fun read and after wiggling around all the different uses of the things they create, I enjoyed the story.

Has anyone else noticed that Madonna is starting to look a lot like Marilyn Manson?
Spooky.

nytemuvr February 10, 2023 - 10:18 PM - 10:18 PM

@THE FEARLESS SPECTATOR….The first time I read your comment I mistook “Mason” for “Monroe” and thought you were being facetious. My Modonna Fan Club magazine subscription ran out so I had to Google that, sure enough you’re right…….
https://www.iheartradio.ca/news/madonna-sparks-comparisons-to-marilyn-manson-1.18623760

Hanne Jeppesen February 11, 2023 - 12:37 PM - 12:37 PM

Ha, ha, I just made the same mistake. I was going to write that Madonna don’t look anything like Marilyn Monroe, perhaps a little when she was younger. Marilyn Monroe didn’t have plastic surgery that made her look very unnatural. Staying on that subject so many stars and famous people have so much plastic surgery they don’t look anything like they use to. Kim Kardashian is one that comes to mind, now her hair is blond, I compare her to beauties of the past, Ingrid Bergman (she was the most beautiful in Casablance) Ava Gardner, Audrey Hepburn, and some of my contemporaries Candice Bergen, Julie Christie, just to name a few. Kim Kardashian and Madonna can’t hold a candle to any of them. I read Ingrid Bergmans autobiography, and she wrote when she came to Hollywood, the studio wanted her to wear certain make up, some other stuff, she refused, she said no that is not me, didn’t seem to hurt her career.

Dawg February 12, 2023 - 12:48 PM - 12:48 PM

Hanne, one of the reasons I like Diane Keaton is because she has aged so gracefully, without a lot of cosmetic surgery.

Hanne Jeppesen February 12, 2023 - 1:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Audrey Hepburn was still beautiful in her sixties her class and humanity shinned through. Unfortunately she died relatively young (64) ever since l saw her in Roman Holiday as a child (my first foreign movie) she and Gregory Peck have been some of my favorite actors

Dawg February 12, 2023 - 5:29 PM - 5:29 PM

When I read what Audrey Hepburn did when she was a young teenager during WWII, I was amazed by her bravery, and heroism. She is a legend, and deserves more recognition.

SOMETHING JUST FLEW OVER MY NEIGHBORHOOD! It sounded like a low flying jet airplane. Myself and a few of my neighbors came out to look and we saw nothing. I happen to be on my computer so I checked ABS-B Exchange website that tracks all flights and there was nothing. Please if anyone has any idea of what that could have been let me know.

Pilots some times come down Diablo Valley following Clayton Rd other times will swing out over Delta and come in from northeast. Maybe because of wind patterns. Yesterday was running 18 minutes late from scheduled arrival time..

I love all the stainless trim, futuristic designs and Dagmar bumpers. There is nothing better than staring past an almost Art Deco dash board over the hood while cruising in a classic. Buy one.

Contra Costa Water District Customers: Has your water pressure increased recently? I am not complaining at all. Our house has always had good water pressure, while some PH neighbors said theirs was very low.

Recently I’ve noticed an increase in whole house water pressure. Water also seems a bit softer, when washing dishes, laundry, in the shower, etc.

We will take a water pressure reading soon. Gotta find the water pressure gizmo in Jim’s work shop area, or buy another one.

Rim ruining potholes.

Putting those enormous wagon wheels and skinny tires on a car in a pathetic attempt to “look cool” LoL! Sacrificing performance & safety…. never a good idea.

Vehicle Weight Fee?!!!!
That is just effinutz!
I doubt that it would cost me much tho, one vehicle I own is 2745 lbs. & the other is 3177 lbs.
This scheme sounds like they’re targeting the big SUV guys and 4WD Truck/Monster trucks, trying to make the product too expensive to use or enjoy anymore the same way they are going after guns & ammo with fees & taxes.

Mary Rae Fouts February 14, 2023 - 9:33 PM - 9:33 PM

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Dept needs to cull/suspend/fire deputies that have anger/domestic violence issues. This evening, in my neighborhood on Isabella Ln in PH, I heard a male loudy arguing with a female. It was an off duty Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Deputy loudly arguing, on the driveway, with a live in nanny about his kids with his ex wife. I got his attention with a flashlight, and a big “wtf” shrug of my shoulders. Stood outside, and the issues/people went away.

Not going to put up with this BS in my neighborhood.
