A Fresh Look for a Local Favorite
For decades, Nation’s Giant Hamburgers has been a go-to spot for hearty meals, friendly service, and a family-friendly atmosphere. The Concord location, in particular, has built a loyal following among locals who appreciate its signature burgers, pies, and diner-style offerings. Like many long-standing restaurants, however, the space eventually began to show signs of age. With changing customer expectations and evolving design trends, ownership decided it was time for a major update.
What’s Included in the Remodel
The project, valued at approximately $325,000, is a significant investment in the Concord location. Planned improvements include a full interior remodel, giving the dining area a fresh look and modern feel. Patrons can expect updated flooring, new seating arrangements, and improved lighting to create a brighter and more welcoming atmosphere. The exterior will also see notable changes, most prominently the addition of a covered entry. This feature will not only improve the building’s appearance but also provide guests with shade and shelter while entering or waiting.
Why Remodeling Matters in the Restaurant Industry
In today’s competitive food service industry, keeping up appearances is more than a matter of pride—it’s a business necessity. Restaurants must balance maintaining their classic charm with offering a clean, comfortable, and modern environment. Outdated interiors or worn exteriors can discourage new customers and give the impression that the business is not thriving. By investing in this remodel, Nation’s demonstrates its commitment to its customers and to staying relevant in a crowded marketplace.
A project of this scale requires the expertise of a professional remodeling contractor. Coordinating a remodel that involves both interior and exterior updates means managing multiple trades—carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and designers—all within a set timeline and budget. The contractor ensures the project complies with building codes, maintains safety standards, and delivers a final result that matches the restaurant’s vision. For restaurants like Nation’s, hiring the right contractor can mean the difference between a smooth, efficient remodel and a disruptive, drawn-out process.
Community Excitement and Expectations
The news of the Concord location’s temporary closure has sparked both curiosity and anticipation among residents. While some regulars will miss their weekly meals at Nation’s during the remodel, many are eager to see the changes. Past remodels, like the recent updates at the Pleasant Hill location, have received positive feedback for their fresh aesthetics and improved comfort. The Concord remodel is expected to follow suit, combining functionality with style to create a space where old customers feel at home while attracting new visitors.
Looking Ahead
The remodel is scheduled to last only a few weeks, minimizing disruption for diners who consider Nation’s part of their routine. Once reopened, the Concord location will feature a refreshed design that aligns with modern dining expectations while maintaining the beloved menu items that made it a community staple in the first place.
For many in Concord, the reopening will mark more than just a chance to grab a burger—it will symbolize a local institution’s commitment to staying strong, evolving, and continuing to serve generations of customers.

Will the food quality also be improved?

The food quality doesn’t need improvement

That’s YOUR opinion.

The sign on the door said reopening planned for June. That’s seems a little more than a few weeks!
@Lee
With everything they have planned, it also seems it’ll be a little more than $325,000.
I hope they improve the lighting in that back parking lot.
Having just been there – yes, it needs a makeover
The parking lot is inhabited by bums and people with mental problems. The last time I stopped in to pick up a pie several customers were waiting inside for an angry psychotic to leave the parking lot. As soon as he left an obviously schizophrenic woman appeared and lingered for another ten minutes shouting obscenities at an invisible target while ducking in and out of the bushes.
Hopefully their makeover includes improvements to parking lot safety.
@ Fearless S. ~ That’s a new Concord tradition these days… dinner & a show. Sounds alot better than the “taking a dump behind the dumpster” show I saw at IHOP.
If you want to be safe…. Stay home on the couch. Oh wait! Turns out that can kill you too. So we expect restaurants paying minimum wage to employees to also expect them to do public outreach to the crazy homeless. Grow up.
