The Contra Costa County Public Works Department will perform tree removal work along Marsh Creek Road near Bridges 143 and 145 on Thursday, March 2, 2023, and Monday, March 6, 2023, through Tuesday, March 7, 2023, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., barring unforeseen circumstances.

Bridge 143 is located approximately 1.5 miles northwest of Deer Valley Road near the Clayton Palms Community.

Bridge 145 is located approximately 3.0 miles east of Deer Valley Road near the road transition to Camino Diablo.

The work being done is in preparation for the Marsh Creek Road Bridges Replacement Project that is scheduled to start construction this summer.

There will be traffic control, including lane and shoulder closures, through the work area and drivers can expect delays.

Road users are encouraged to consider alternative routes during these work hours.

Residents and commuters who regularly travel along Marsh Creek Road are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the scheduled work periods. Flaggers and temporary signage will be in place to help guide vehicles safely through the construction zone, and motorists should follow all posted speed limits and instructions from traffic control personnel.

Pedestrians, cyclists, and nearby residents should also remain cautious, as heavy equipment and work crews will be operating close to the roadway. Noise from tree removal activities is expected during daytime hours, and short-term access restrictions may occur near the bridge areas while work is underway.

The County emphasizes that this advance tree removal is a necessary step to ensure a safer and more efficient construction process once the bridge replacement project begins. By completing this preparatory work now, crews aim to minimize disruptions during the main construction phase later in the year.

Updates on traffic impacts, construction schedules, and project progress will be shared as they become available, and the public is encouraged to stay informed through official county communications.
