More Antioch Officers Expected To Be Placed On Leave Amid Investigation Into Police Department

Antioch’s mayor is expected to announce Thursday that an ongoing investigation into the city’s Police Department has led to additional officers placed on leave.

In a press release Wednesday night, Mayor Lamar Thorpe’s office said there would be a “major announcement” regarding an investigation by the FBI and Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

At least eight of the city’s 57 police officers were under investigation last year, and the district attorney announced the investigation was related to “crimes of moral turpitude” involving Antioch and Pittsburg police officers.

The Pittsburg Police Department has said on social media that the investigation “involves several local police officers, including three current Pittsburg police officers.”

Antioch’s mayor will appear at a press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday at Antioch City Hall, 200 H St.

As compared to 1980s antioch is but a pitiful shell of what it once was.
Still wondering when Grand Jury will take a good LONG look at antioch.

So what are the crimes? Quit being cagey and lost them. All the mayor is doing is trying to sully the names of the 8 officers and by association, the rest of the department. Why do people feel the need to make these veiled announcements – what purpose does it serve? Just make the announcement and move on … quit being sneaky.

Anything which mentions Contra Costa County District Attorneys Office is shady in my eyes these days. Soros really pulled one over on us.

Maybe the “crime” was actually arresting Law breakers and or refusing to Release every repeat offender / murderer / out on parole back to the streets!!

It’s pretty sad that this Mayor with All of his skeletons will be teaming up with the lawless Becton on this.

This is the same Mayor Thorpe that should have resigned after his DUI.
Referring to whatever this crime may be as “a big announcement” suggests they are rather excited about it. If it turns out some police officers did some bad things, that’s certainly nothing to be a excited about.

Repay all “paid leave” if fired. Otherwise it’s a crooked and total waste of taxpayer dollars.

This is just bad news all the way around. A city plagued with crime and drugs, that is already greatly understaffed of officers, is losing more. What could possibly go wrong.

Oh, and I hear so many young eager types are lining up to become police officers these days – NOT

Soros Los Angeles District Attorney Gascón is going after 7 CHP. Becton will be going after the PD around here, it won’t just stop at Antioch. They want the police to be afraid to do anything to criminals.

The George Soros bought District Attorney Becton and the anti police mayor are the problem. What people have learned is to resist arrest to hit the ghetto lottery. If people backed the police Antioch would be much safer.

Probably in trouble for actually arresting dirtbag lawbreakers. Good luck getting new recruits when a DUI mayor is hunting for so called “lawbreakers” within their own PD.

“Moral turpitude” is a relative term in Antioch, as the mayor was busted for DUI, and didn’t resign. This
sounds like a witch hunt by DA Becton and the FBI to sully the APD, and to force resignations by those
officers that may have a beef with the new regime in Antioch. We haven’t seen the communications yet
between officers, so we”ll have to wait and see what all the hub-bub is all about. Mayor Thorpe ran on
platform stating he would reform the Antioch PD. Bringing the FBI in on the investigation sounds like
overkill to me. More to come.
