More like the persecution of President Trump. The charges are 34 counts of falsification of business records, and the DA is trying to tie this to apparent payment to a porn star. The whole thing stinks, and is just another attempt by a certain political leaning ideology to silence the face/public identity of the opposite (correctly termed “right”) leaning ideology, criminalization of a belief. Since 2016, these leftists have thrown multiple noodles to the wall to see if they would stick. I am curious as to who is spurring bragg along, as a year ago, he was not interested in such charges (funny what an announcement of candidacy can do). Tremendous the downturn this Constitutional Republic has taken under the current administration.

In another case, a doorman who said he knew Mr Trump had a child out of wedlock received $30,000. In another, a second woman who claimed she had an an affair with Mr Trump received $150,000. Mr Trump has denied the affair.
These payments came from the tabloid National Enquirer magazine and its then-publisher, David Pecker co-ordinated with Mr Trump to suppress potentially damaging information.

An interesting skim/read is what is known as Bragg’s Day One soft on crime memo when he took office where he has a whole laundry list of misdemeanors that will now be ignored and not charged, a list of felonies that will be lowered to misdemeanors, and so on. There is not a single mention of any charges being increased in severity, which is the opposite of this Trump case where he hired expensive lawyers to dedicate themselves to turning a misdemeanor into a whole long number of felonies. Yep, Democrats want a Banana Republic.

@Ricardo, It is easier for me to list the policies I liked. His stand on Israel, I have to look it up, but as far I remember something about drug prices, making it cheaper for most. As for Ukraine, I believe Putin would have invaded no matter who was president, dictators rarely let anything deter them when they set their eyes on something. Lower cost of everything is also up for debate. The high cost of eggs have to do with the bird flu, which I doubt Trump could have done anything about. Trump have some character flaws, that is totally opposit of what my parents taught me. He brags to the 9th degree, he is very vindictive, belittles ANYONE that disagrees with him, he has a history of not wanting to pay vendors that works on his property, try to take them to court, and then settle for less. How many times do we have to hear “We got him this time”? I have a suggestion. Doesn’t really matter who it is that is being charged, but, since it is a leading political candidate and former president, the charges should be very clear. Yet that indictment literally doesn’t say what the crime is. WTF? It’s my understanding the indictment says the hush payments were illegal (although it doesn’t provide explanation why) but the statute of limitations to charge for that has passed. The charge driving this is that those payments were made in an attempt to hide another crime but this other crime remains unstated. So the State of New York is alleging some crime happened while refusing to tell us what it is? Doesn’t seem right no matter who is being charged.

Its claimed (I have only reports and no proof of it) that Trump’s revocable trust deducted Daniel’s expenses. Before going on, according to reports that is only a misdemeanor, but let’s move on. So, Trump paid Daniels. Why isn’t that a business expense. He paid her to shut up, not for anything else. Any alleged relationship was already in the past. Trump has a reputation, and he protects and advances it, which is similar to advertising and advertising is deductible. He did the same as advertising by protecting his name. All sorts of business expenses are deductible, even non-compete agreements. With a non-compete agreement you are paying someone to not do something, similar to what he did here paying Daniels to not compete with his reputation. I’m not sure your accounting argument is as clear as you think it is and perhaps paying Daniels is deductible. It’s a cost of doing business for the rich and famous to make some people just go away. Lots of businesses like Home Depot just throw money at some to avoid extended legal battles.
