At this point, with trying to prove a situation(s) of some sort in a classroom, I think it might be needed.

YES 100% at this point, we need to make sure teachers are doing the job we want them to do.

I agree with your Yes, but not because of your reason.

bdml May 12, 2023 - 7:35 AM - 7:35 AM

Your entitled to your reasons just as I am & that is civil disagreement which is the way it should be

No because I would be a waste of money given that everyone have a cell phone and can record any moment as needed. However, everyone should be advised that theirs voices/pictures can maybe recorded on the premise. This way, there it is easier for any potential evidence to enter the courtroom.

Many schools enforce a no phone classroom until you get to high school. And even then, we will not see the start of the incident, only when it gets ‘interesting’. A camera recording at all times would allow us to see what led up to the incident.

Unfortunately yes – as Exit said too, random bag checks …. and monitored entry / exit points to the schools while in session

Never happen. Teacher’s union won’t allow it. Teachers might have to do their job when on camera.

A lot of childcare facilities now have camera systems that parents can log on and watch and listen to make sure their children are doing well. At this point, I’d say all classrooms should have video w/audio and allow parents to view. We call these “Trust but Verify” systems, and they are quite popular installs for us now.

I am absolutely against any big brother tactics. We already have too much government overseeing our lives. The fake COVID scare is a good example of what can go wrong when elected and unelected officials, and self-appointed experts, are allowed too much power. Enforce the laws that are already on the books, enforce the three strikes law, and hand out stiff maximum prison sentences, and watch crime decline. There was a time when school shootings and mass shootings were a rarity, now they are almost a daily occurrence. When liberals are defunding the police, when there is no longer a threat of prison, and when we have a governor letting felons out early, what do you expect will happen? Cameras are just about everywhere these days, and they have not been much of a deterrent. Crime will continue to rise, until the voters wise up.

Well parents could see what crap children were being fed during the pandemic on the classroom Zoom feeds. Probably was the the only silver lining to the pandemic. No wonder many parents followed the saintly gruesome newsome path and have put their kids in private schools. Put the video feeds in.

You get what you ask for.. It is a good idea, since parents cannot manage their little darlings. now a days,
and too many teachers are inappropriate.

Googlar May 11, 2023 - 12:27 AM - 12:27 AM

It depends on the demographic of the school classrooms.

SAM May 11, 2023 - 4:04 AM - 4:04 AM

Teachers are scared of cameras. Parents should be able to watch watch live. Bet there would be less gay going on and maybe they would learn something.

Absolutely yes, but the camera should be pointed at the students, not the teacher. One of the biggest problems in public school classrooms is student disruption/distractions from learning. Parents need to see what their kids are doing.

Just a Teacher May 12, 2023 - 8:15 AM - 8:15 AM

As a teacher, I have no problem with cameras recording me in the classroom. The issue is who will have access to the recordings and if the kids will be viewable. I teach ten-year-olds. If the recordings are given out freely to parents and guardians, how do we know they are not being published online. I wouldn’t want my child being shown online without my permission. Also, some parents are abusive, and this video would give them possible “reasons” to abuse their child if they perceive them not trying hard enough. Some parents do not agree with mandatory curriculum methods and concepts, like common core and evolution. Cameras would allow them to scrutinize everything teachers say, even when it is the accepted and mandated curriculum. It’s a can of worms I don’t think we want to open. If cameras were allowed, the recordings should not be for public viewing. Instead, they should be kept on a protected server in case an issue is brought up. The recordings could then be viewed by the parent with an admin present as needed. On a side note, I think the people who don’t want cameras the most are the kids. They definitely don’t want their parents to see what they say and do all day!
