The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.

Most traffic enforcement in Los Angeles should be done by civilian workers, and not cops, according to a report from the L.A. Transportation Department, reported first by the L.A. Times.

QUESTION: If Los Angeles goes through with this plan, what do you think the outcome will be? Do you think it’ll work or not work?

Talk about it.

Newsflash. Police ARE civilians!

Hum,… so City/County of L.A. would hire people to do this job?
Bring in $$$ for the Cities/County? O.K.
Traffic stop someone, … who might have a firearm in car? No Thank You

Roz, Agree with your assessment. I heard enough police officers saying traffic stops makes them very nervous, don’t know what they will encounter. Does not sound like a well thought out idea.

Paradise for a cop wanna be.
Pull over a gang banger and get fatal lead poisoning.

Kentucky Derby May 11, 2023 - 12:54 PM - 12:54 PM

Keeping in mind that police officers say that traffic stops are their most dangerous encounters (he/she might have a gun) hell no. At least cops have guns. Were they planning on arming civilians?

How much looniness will the voters put up with before they start voting these clowns out?

20
Dawg May 11, 2023 - 2:31 PM - 2:31 PM

There are too many loonies in LA that are okay with it, that’s why they keep voting for these clowns.

12
Old Timer May 11, 2023 - 1:01 PM - 1:01 PM

What the hell!Put the clowns that thought this one up performing this job and see how soon they change there minds. The death rate will definitely rise.

The Fearless Spectator May 11, 2023 - 1:09 PM - 1:09 PM

That’s how the hillside stranglers murdered all those ladies in Los Angeles. They didn’t look like law enforcement and their car only sort of did.
Should LA unwisely proceed with this ill-conceived experiment, the result will be premature death for innocent people.

12
Dawg May 11, 2023 - 1:11 PM - 1:11 PM

Who are they kidding? They are defunding the police. They will lay off police officers and replace them with civilians at half the cost.
Somebody is going to get shot.

Ols-school guy May 11, 2023 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

Cops know the most dangerous part of the job is a traffic stop. No such thing as a routine traffic stop. You couldn’t pay me enough to pull someone over.

10
domo May 11, 2023 - 1:37 PM - 1:37 PM

…. whose bright idea was that? ….they should do a few traffic stops where the perp goes violent & pulls a gun on them …another stupid idea by libs

The Professor May 11, 2023 - 1:58 PM - 1:58 PM

The civilian pay has to be less than the cops’. They can hire extra coroners with the savings.

“The Democrat party is like a cancer that is metastasizing to healthy cities across the country and the corrupt liberal-run media is acting as a vector of the disease.”

I wish I had said the above, but credit goes to another. Well done.
Wait your turn, liberals. Some say Karma will give you what you vote for.

Oh yeah this should turn out well.

I guess the various gangs can determine which territories they control WRT to speeders or traffic violators they can pull over and immediately extract the penalties from, including “acquisition” of any goods they see they need.

MoJo May 11, 2023 - 2:13 PM - 2:13 PM

The Buffoons who are making these decisions are very peculiar and disturbed individuals. Perhaps someone held them underwater as children. They seem damaged in that way.

To Do List May 11, 2023 - 2:47 PM - 2:47 PM

I am predicting racial profiling, where they will go after expensive looking cars with drivers who look safe to them while avoiding anything else. They will likely all end up patrolling Pacific Palisades.

yoyohop May 11, 2023 - 4:03 PM - 4:03 PM

Yup, people that have a basic respect for law and order will be the one’s likely to stop. The criminal and drug deranged won’t give a damn about the rent-a-cops and the rent-a-cop making $20 an hour isn’t going to risk his life trying to stop some meth-head going 100 in an old beater.

Juryisout May 11, 2023 - 2:56 PM - 2:56 PM

This state is full of delusional snowflakes, I mean is this guy the town drunk to even think of some stupid a** comment to make like this.
I give up on this state it’s total down the toilet.

Angry American May 11, 2023 - 3:19 PM - 3:19 PM

A lot of dead citizens… Didn’t we just see a guy get the snot beat out of him for attempting to break up a sideshow? What did Stillwell say in that movie 1941……. “This isn’t a state of California, this is a state of insanity”

bdml May 11, 2023 - 4:01 PM - 4:01 PM

That is a DUMB idea, they are only putting people in possible violent situations, the fleabag criminals will really respect the HELL out these wannabes

Hayden Barsotti May 11, 2023 - 4:14 PM - 4:14 PM

Add this to the list of “Why should I leave California.”

Rollo Tomasi May 11, 2023 - 5:20 PM - 5:20 PM

From the LA Times article:
“The debate over the role of law enforcement in traffic incidents stretches back decades but intensified in the wake of George Floyd’s murder in 2020 at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis and the ensuing nationwide reckoning in which critics challenged some long-held assumptions around policing.”

Are they seriously implying that George Floyd was contacted by police for a traffic violation?

Exit 12A May 11, 2023 - 8:22 PM - 8:22 PM

.
George Floyd was a thug, thief, and criminal. Liberals have martyred the fool.
.
Should Floyd have been treated the way he was? Definitely not.
.
But a really good way to avoid being contacted by and avoiding interaction with the police is not to commit crimes that would be subject to being arrested (shoplifting, burglary, robber, assault, etc).
.
Floyd made his own bed.
.

This purely asinine- there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. I see blood everywhere.

Definitely crazy is the new normal. Especially in government. 🙄

Diversionary tactics by clueless, inept, feckless and worthless politicians. They desperately do anything to divert attention away from their incompetence.

The Fearless Spectator May 12, 2023 - 8:21 AM - 8:21 AM

I sure feel sorry for the civilians assigned to patrol Compton and Inglewood.
Best have an ambulance follow them, they’re going to need it.

Aunt Barbara May 12, 2023 - 10:52 AM - 10:52 AM

People just get more idiotic everyday. and will get what they deserve.
This is absurd!

What, using social media to shame them into pulling over, or encourage vigilantism!?
This is double talk from an innate politician done to create and add more confusion to
an already pissed off public.
