Antioch City Councilwoman Monica Wilson Announces Candidacy For State Senate In 2024

Four-term Antioch City Councilmember Monica Wilson announced on Monday her bid for a state Assembly seat next year.

The District 15 Assembly seat is currently held by Tim Grayson, D-Concord, and Wilson announced she will campaign for the seat if the assemblyman seeks the state Senate seat of Sen. Steve Glazer, D-Orinda, who will be termed out in 2024.

“Too many families are getting priced out due to skyrocketing costs of living and expensive housing,” she said in a press release announcing her candidacy. “Creating effective solutions to homelessness is not only a regional, but statewide crisis. I have a proven track record of tackling today’s tough problems to provide the leadership every Californian needs.”

Assembly District 15 includes Antioch, Brentwood, Clayton, Concord, Martinez, Pittsburg, Pleasant Hill, parts of Walnut Creek and unincorporated communities.

State Board of Equalization member Sally Lieber commended Wilson’s commitment to protecting the environment.

“Monica has led efforts to protect our clean air and water for future generations,” said Lieber. “Monica will lead the fight in Sacramento to make real progress toward the Governor’s goal of dramatically cutting carbon pollution to reduce the risk of drought and wildfire.”

Susannah Delano, executive director of Close the Gap California — a statewide campaign to achieve gender balance in the California Legislature — said “it is more important than ever to elect women with proven track records of results to be our state policymakers.”

Others such as human rights advocate Christine Pelosi, Concord Vice Mayor Edi Birsan and Brentwood City Council member Jovita Mendoza have also endorsed Wilson.

Does not say a party affiliation?
If she’s a democrat then HELL NO!
They have destroyed the state.
You can’t keep voting the same and expect change.

Absolutely perfect boilerplate announcement. She is Democrat! She will lower housing costs! She will solve homelessness! She will stop global warming! And, most important of all, she will “fight” for you! She will probably get elected and prices, homelessness and global warming will just keep trucking along because all voters care about is the Party of the candidate to check the box.

ABSOLUTELY NOT voting for her, don’t need more woke in state legislature.
Been on antioch city council since 2012, during those years city declined.
During those years biding time to climb political ladder, meanwhile her city circles drain.
.
What has she done to reduce crime in antioch ? ? ? ?

I wouldn’t want any affiliation with Antioch on my resume!
Not what I’d call “bragging rights”.

Where is this so-called proven record? Cause I’m not blind, Antioch has been ran into the ground especially over the past few years.

Sad that it has come to literally not caring about who the actual person is or their beliefs, but stand with a hard line “Hell No” if you’re a Democrat. Hey, they did this to themselves. They’ve ruined everything they’ve touched. And if you don’t like what I just said, I’ll bet you that you don’t believe in God either.

She is a contributing factor in the state of Antioch. Crime and homelessness has increased with her in office. She didn’t stand up against the mayor who sexually harassed 2 women and she was involved with redsand project against human trafficking! She is not someone I would continue to support. Voters beware. BTW I’m a Dem.

Since Antioch has been run so well during her tenure I’m sure she would do the exact same job for the state as she did for her city. Easy pass & A HELL NO!

Urgh…. “Monica will lead the fight in Sacramento to make real progress toward the Governor’s goal of dramatically cutting carbon pollution to reduce the risk of drought and wildfire.” What about the things that matter to us living in State District 15? Safety, good schools and roads, go after those things in your first term and let’s see how you do. Don’t get distracted with the stuff Newsom is trying to do.

They have no clue or ability to handle and solve problems of that magnitude – the real problems that are crushing middle class America. So, they differ to BS issues for themselves to handle to make themselves look and feel important. — i.e. Nancy jrs. (Garven Newscum) monumentally world changing hair discrimination legislation.
