Melo’s Pizza & Pasta is opening a restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek.
The restaurant will be located at 1360 Locust St., in between the San Francisco Creamery and the parking garage (in the old Bierhaus location).
Melo’s also has locations in Pleasant Hill, Danville, Brentwood and Livermore.

That’s actually good news! Melo’s is excellent! My New York Italian friends love going there when they visit here. They say it’s the best! Frankly. I never cared much for their Pleasant Hill location though. Great food but questionable area
Agree. A verygood questionable part of Pleasant Hill. That whole area terrifies me ! It’s like the worse parts of Oakland
Calm down
You can’t be serious!? I have never had an issue in that area & I frequent it about 3-4 times a week
oh joy… I hope they hire better staff than the Pleaanr Hill and Danville. Pizza joints have all gone downhill . including Roccos who went downhill during the pandemicand never bounced back.
Cutbacks and lousy cooks are always the beginning of the end.
Since the pandemic the cooks want to work from home like everyone else.
Maybe Rocco’s was too busy serving free pizza and pasta lunches and dinners to John Muir and Kaiser medical personnel during the pandemic.
Rocco’s is mid to good. Melos is the tried and true. Pasta is bomb, everything always 10 out of 10. Glad they got rid of the ditzy and rude girls at the counter and brought in the wonderful Italian women. Don’t know if she’s the owner or family but she makes it a great experience.
Give me Skippolini’s or give me death
” never bounced back..?”
Huh?, Thanks to great community support we are on a waiting list almost every night. I think we bounced back.
I’ve never thought Melo’s was anything special. I would never go out of my way to eat there. Food is mediocre, I doubt they will last in Downtown Walnut Crek, too much competition.
Rocco’s is fine, and competes well with the local family restaurants or chains. I appreciate their extended menu vs. strictly pizza spots stuck in the past with wings and sweet breadstick “sides.”
BFF Out!
Their pizza is not that good and there’s several other pizza spots in Walnut Creek all are better.
Rocco, instead of being your usual arrogant self, take the feedback. We’ve been coming to you for years. Went about 6 weeks ago and the food was disappointing. Service was slow and lackluster and food taste wasn’t there. We were bummed. While you may have a waiting list, you shouldn’t take for granted how quickly the tide could turn for you. Humble yourself. Word travels fast about those who don’t learn that there’s always room for improvement.
Agreed…always room for improvement. Our response was reply to the posting of …not bounced back?
Which just isn’t true. We are grateful for wonderful community for 24 years. We survived the pandemic and in our humble opinion, have bounced back!
ROCCO- I love your pastas and salads.
ROCCO- was just there with a group of ten people, aged from 14 to over 70. People ordered a salad, a pizza or pasta and everything was loved by all! Also liked where we were seated. Privacy for us and others. Thank you for all you did for us and what you do for the community!
Though Melo’s doesn’t have the best customer service or locations, their food is better than Olive Garden.
Melos in Pleasant Hill a questionable area? Never had any problems in that area. Food has always been very good. Also, I don’t think I ever had occasion with any ditzy girls and we’ve been going there for many years! Really surprised at all the negative remarks! No competition in Walnut Creek on the pizza
@ANUSHA~
Agree, it really isn’t a questionable area, … just buildings look a bit tired and run-down in the area.
Just like an overgrown weedy yard, … a little bit of clean-up makes a difference.
They call it melo yellow (quite rightly). Now I have to listen to the Donovan tune!
@REASONABLE… You’re mad about Daffron too?

@nytemuvr .. Quite Rightly!! Nice link.
That location suffers from terrible parking. The garage is always full and should you find a parking space it takes forever to get in and out of the structure. Plus the hobos pee in the elevator.
I had a lunchtime personal pizza once and only what a horrible waste of money. I ordered 3 item pizza and when I and opened it up to eat very disappointed I thought maybe it was the wrong order it look morelike a “cheese pizza” and sparsely peppered with hardly any mushrooms pepperoni and italian sausage.. once was enough I hope they do better in walnut Creek because the pleasant Hill location is the worst..
Haven’t been to Melo’s for a long time. Back when we didn’t have to even think about things like “bad part of town” I thought Melo’s was the best. Start off by unfolding 5-6 napkins, Lay them across the whole pie, Press down just once, gently. Lift napkins and 1/2 cup of pepperoni grease off top, and MANGIA!
