Multiple injuries have been reported in a 2 vehicle collision on Willow pass road near the Sunvalley mall in Concord.
Emergency responders are currently on scene, and a tow truck is working quickly to remove the vehicles from the road.
There is no word on the extent of the injuries.
This accident seems to be at Sunvalley Blvd and Willow Pass Rd (not far from the BofA. 680 Willow Pass Rd Exit). 2-3 months ago, an accident happened in that very same area but no news site had an article about it. It seems to me that this time, someone possibly didn’t want to wait at the red light and decided to floor it but lost control. I have had several close calls in that area because of drivers who aggressively merge from the far left lane into the far right lane.
That car looks like it was turning left from the I-680 exit onto Willow Pass Road. I’m guessing the other car was heading down Willow Pass to turn left under the highway. In any case, one of them was not supposed to be in that intersection.

Except the pictured car seems to be going the opposite direction. It seems to be more likely for someone to go that route to get to the mall and check off their jewelry thieving of the day off from their list.
Texting and driving. Distracted driving is the cause of many accidents. 30 year paramedic here..

People always run that yellow/red light at the southbound willowpass offramp. When I’m waiting at the head of the red light going westbound on willlowpass, I always wait a second and look left for any psychos flooring it to sneak through before I proceed forward.
Perhaps give the green light an extra second or so delay past the turn of red in the other direction to give a little cushion. But that whole area is high traffic and very tight with multiple stop lights as it is.
The car in the picture was traveling westbound on Willow Pass road torward Contra Costa Blvd and the driver of that car decided to run the red light at the 680 offramp, broadsiding the other car that isn’t shown in these photos. The other car (which had a green light to turn left off of the offramp onto eatsbound Willow Pass) wound up on the right shoulder/curb of Willow Pass. Injuries appeared to be minor but the broadsided car was totaled. The driver of the car in the picture is lucky he didn’t kill anyone.
In a rush to go shopping there’s no time for stopping…
