It will be nice to learn more about you and your policies.

I’d like to see the MDUSD disbanded.
Nearby districts could take over the schools.
Send the bloated administration packing and the school board into oblivion.

MDUSD is one of the only districts that does not have to make budget cuts over the next two years, so maybe something is working…

Or maybe the taxpayers are just already getting juiced…. but I must admit I like the name “FRUGAL” MCDOUGAL. We’ll see if it fits.

Only until the MDEA forces their new contract down the throat of MDUSD. How many new free hours do you want to ‘prep’ for class? How many fewer students? How much more pay?

Sorry with the numbers MDEA is pursuing, MDUSD will have to make budget cuts … it is a shame.

It is all part of bargaining. An agreement has not yet been reached. MDUSD is sitting on $213 million in reserve on a $500 budget. They are required to keep 15% in reserve. I don’t think the union will get everything they want, but the district is offering a 1% raise in 2025, 1% in 2026, and no guarantee of any in 202, which amounts to $4.5 million in additional spending. Benefits continuing to be covered at 100% will be another 4 million. So let’s say another 4 million. So that is another 8.5 million in spending, not accounting for the projected COLA increases amounting to $12 million over that same period.

Enrollment has been relativly flat for the past three years. 86-91% of district budgets cover all employees, not just educators: bus drivers, classified, district, and school board benefits, etc.

The district has saved a lot of capital that should be in the classrooms supporting students, families, and educators to ensure the best educational opportunities. The teachers worked for ZERO raises from 2018-2021. Since 2013, the average raise has been 3.2%, inflation averaged 2.56% over the same period, just for reference.

The more significant issue regarding California state budget cuts is stock market performance. Suppose we pay attention to what is happening because of the implementation of tariffs and uncertainty with our current executive leadership regarding the economy. In that case, cuts in the future certainly may occur, but not because of teacher negotiations.

Hi Abe.
Which nearby districts would you propose take over the schools? MDUSD covers a very large area, and serves upwards of 29,000 students. How would disbanding the district help the students and families? How would you propose to implement this transition with a cost savings and no disruption to the education of students who are currently being served by MDUSD?
If you have a plan, board meeting date are listed on the website and public comment is welcome.

Clayton Valley High, broke away from the district. They seem to be doing ok.

Don’t remember what happened with David Linsey and his wife in 2018? As taxpayers, we should have seen some people should be jailed from that tenure.

As long as he doesn’t say he doesn’t represent the parents like that horrible racist, Keisha. Supporting everything opposite her would be a good start. Hopefully, he will refuse to go along with the status quo of that generally dismal board.

MDUSD is one of the most arbitrary bloated organizations there is in this area …. decisions are made subjectively and at the whim of a few …. the A/C / heating debacle is a $50M example…

Run for school board.

domo would advocate for accountability, which would make him or her unelectable.
