Perfect pick !

Joke

In Britain they’re called “lifts” while in America we call them elevators.
I guess we’re just raised differently.

Saw on the news that UPS is closing a number of facilities and laying off 20,000 employees. Heard from a driver that the Concord facility on Olivera Road is closing in June.

An interesting observation:
While driving over the Bay Bridge in a car with tyre-pressure sensors, the pressure warning light started blinking. It had been on before (slow leak in one tyre), but I thought the blinking meant that the low-pressure situation was worse. When I got off the bridge, the blinking stopped. Coming back was the same thing – the low-pressure light blinked on the bridge but not when I was off the bridge. My speed was about the same under both circumstances.
My best guess is that the steel girders in the bridge interfered with the radio signal from the pressure senors, causing the blinking.
Has anybody else noticed this phenomenon?

I have a 28 year old truck and a 56 year old car.
I do not have tire sensor problems in either one.

I don’t have tire pressure warning lights on my 27 year old truck or my 56 year old car but I know someone who owns a newer car and frequently gets false tire pressure warnings. Have you ruled out the possibility of a state regulation requiring higher tire pressures when crossing bridges?

I read that Burger King is being sued for deceptive practices, because their Whopper is nowhere near the size of the advertised Whopper. They want us to think that it still “takes two hands to handle a Whopper!

Any thoughts on pest control service?

“Trade companies are increasingly hiring workers fresh out of high
school to counter labor shortages caused by baby boomers retiring.
Skilled high school graduates can expect to immediately earn as
much as $70,000 in professions such as plumbing, electrical work
and welding.
.
Elijah Rios, 17, won’t be graduating until next year, but
he already has a job lined up where he’ll make $68,000 annually.
Rios, a junior, is taking welding classes at Father Judge, a Catholic
high school in Philadelphia that works with companies who want to
bring on skilled tradespeople”

.
Not aware of any such program available in MDUSD.
.
Mentioned was a shortage of qualified crafts persons.
DVC might have classes, not sure.
Laney College does have classes.
.
Had new boss at former job, electrical engineer with student loan
debt. As a Union electrician made more than he did.
.
If a person has the skill set in demand, they will get a job.
With 5 – 7 years experience, can get a higher paying job.

Retired newscaster, Pam Moore won the BABJA Award (Bay Area Black Journalists Award) Congratulations!
Quite an achievement I’m sure, but still… in this day and age why are we still awarding anything to anybody determined by race?
To tell the truth, I never even knew she was black.

When her hair was black her race was obvious. She speaks with a black dialect. She’s from Detroit.
