Theyve been blocking the road and illegally blocking the sidewalk for 2 years, signs everywhere’no temple parking” and they don’t care and park there anyway.
What an eyesore that place is, did the city even do inspection on that jacked up building, that exterior of the building can’t be up to code. Makes you wonder what the rest of the construction is like on the rest of the place. I’d like to see the permits, and who signed off on that place.
And who is paying for the road closures, and traffic enforcement?
THe city doesn’t figure anything. Look how horrible Downtown Concord has become with all the high rise apartment buildings, now migration down Galindo toward Monument by Police station and Cowell road.
They did it for money and only money the city could make on this was building permit per foot,so the bigger the better. They cant even tax the place, its a ‘church”
This entire operation and building was built here because San Fransisco where all of this was is no longer safe for them, and much like the same homeless people that they are tired of living on their property at night in SF ,they come to Concord because they heard it was easy, and almost lawless..Concord is getting more and more street people from SF everyday. How do they allow a non profit building to be so tall?Usually only a business can do that. Why do they need that ridiculously large 2 building set up,3 stories high?Next good earthquake,i dont want to be near that, but its going to fall onto Safeway.
Not to mention, it’s a hop skip and jump to Concord Bart.
I’d complain, but I know a thing or two about the cult of Kali and I don’t want any Thuggee types sneaking up behind me. take my advice, let ’em park.
And did they realize a building with 1000 section 8 people living in it would be built on the opposite side of Safeway? It was already a bad area with that Safeway known as ghetto Safeway .This is an insult to ghettos. That entire area and people that live in those houses and have for years, you cant even look at the sky.buildings are in the way
WhenWillYouLearn – Ironically, you might want to learn a few facts yourself before spreading misinformation.
The man who founded the Shiva Murugan Temple, Robert Hansen—also known as Gurudeva—was born in Oakland in 1927. Over his lifetime, he received many honors, including a United Nations award in 2000. Past recipients of that award include global figures like the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pope John Paul II, and Mother Teresa.
As for the temple itself, its site plan and design elevations were approved by Concord’s Design Review Board in August 2015 and the City Planning Commission in September 2016. After meeting all City Building Codes, Municipal Regulations, and other agency requirements, the City of Concord issued a permit to build in May 2019. Construction began in September that year.
The original temple is still in use and will be removed to make space for parking and landscaping. This is the oldest Hindu temple in the U.S., and its grand reopening is expected to draw over 10,000 visitors from around the country.
Facts matter.
I shop at Trader Joes, Safeway and Food Maxx mostly. I often purchase Items that have a CRV tag, which really ticks me off. Every state I have lived in has had a bottle deposit. Which returns my money. California wants you to pay 5, 10 or 25 cents CRV and the recycling place only pays by the pound to which you get pennies back for your dollars spent. To make matters worse, Food Maxx charges you taxes on the CRV fee. Greggory Collins Concord resident
The huge amount of cars parked on the streets nearby make it really hard to see incoming traffic at the stop signs and I get nervous. I hope they build another parking lot soon or something
