TODAY’S QUESTION: Do you feel like your voice is heard in local politics and planning?

Absolutely not – I can personally cite instances where I / we voiced opinions on important and not-so-important situations, recommendations, risks, etc. and were politely listened to – then the city did exactly the opposite despite being given hope of us being heard. By providing a forum for citizen input the city officials can “check that box” saying they solicited and received residents input. The Brown Act is often and flagrantly violated as well. Some of the local cities are focused on revenue generation (via taxes, fees, etc.) than on providing service(s) to residents while still “deferring maintenance” on degrading & aging infrastructure. I could go on……

Between utopian fantasy obsessed space cadets infesting state legislature
and abag, unelected to the right of us and unelected to the left of us,
we don’t stand a chance !
.
ABAG membership is voluntary and represents cities, towns
and Bay Area counties. An how easy is it to stack abag with woke liberals
and those who stand to profit handsomely from edicts abag spews.
.
An let us not forget their WOKE AGENDA

How it they have not been sued ? ? ?
.
Want the insanity to STOP don’t elect democrats.

I only voiced a grievance once. When Mark DeSaulinier was on the Concord city council, he came to our neighborhood to hear some concerns we were having at the time. He promised he would look into it and do something about it. Mark, being the do nothing that he is, did absolutely nothing about it.

I have to say one thing about DeSaulnier- he is consistent in doing nothing.

I’ve had the same experience with him from the Concord city council on…. Tells others what they want to hear and then does nothing. Well, given his capabilities, I suppose that him doing nothing is the best option for him – and the rest of society.

Local politicians listen to influencers with the big $$$.
No one else.

Not really. 59 year resident. You only matter to the city of Concord if you are a renter. Or have an ADU/granny unit they can count towards their housing count. Clayton Road needs attention , in its entirety. The value of a life in Concord is squat; Women found dead on bike trails and Baldwin Park. A pregnant Safeway employee killed by her boyfriend at Newhall Park, and a male strung up at the Concord BART station. Or shot along the Monument corridor. These souls mattered, and were our future. Let’s do better people.

No.
But I do feel my tax dollars being flushed to the bowels of the earth on projects I don’t support.

Like a drop in the ocean noticed.

Nope. I sat on a concord city commission for a while. Our “city council advisor” would tell us how we were expected to vote on topics. And we would never be told how our votes tallied.

We were told that Oakland was the model city… so much for families first.

Our city council is a stepping stone to county sup or state legislature and the council will do what ever they think will get them approved to get PAC or state DNC backing.

Voice heard? Are you kidding? Not locally or state-wide.

My voice would have been heard but they wouldn’t let me bring my bullhorn into the town hall meeting..

The proliferation of Pack and Stack housing coming from so-called progressives by superceding local
planning and local control leads to a resounding NO.
