A vehicle stuck a traffic signal on the corner of Ygnacio Valley Rd at Pine Hollow Rd in Concord this morning around 8:30. Injures have been reported. Use caution if you’re in the area. Thanks to Nate for the photos.
UPDATE: Another vehicle, a landscaping truck, fled the scene. The driver and his truck were both found a short distance away, on Rock Creek, off Pine Hollow. The driver who fled was 67-years-old, and unlicensed, according to police. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

An adult woman and toddler/preschool age child were the occupants of the white truck. No high school students seem to have been involved. The driver door was open and the woman and child were out of the truck before the police/EMT/fire dept arrived on scene, but 20 min later I witnessed EMTs and fire personnel gathering around the passenger (pole) side door. I hope no one was trapped inside.
The driver of the tan truck exited his vehicle on his own and was found walking around the Rock Creek/Via Ensenada area. Hoping this all means no fatalities.

Domo, you should have waited for the update. This was a two vehicle accident. The other vehicle fled the seen.

Unlicensed driver, huh?!?!
When I lived in California, it was estimated that one in seventeen drivers were unlicensed, and I’m sure that number has gone up significantly, making California much more unsafe. California has some of the highest fines in the nation, and if someone doesn’t pay their fines (and fees), they lose their license, but they don’t stop driving.
There was a time when Concord would hold DUI traffic checkpoints, and when they found an unlicensed driver, they confiscated the car. But the City Council was worried that this was having a greater effect on one specific demographic, so police were banned from that practice. By-and-large, those traffic checkpoints are rarely used anymore, and the extent of unlicensed drivers is largely unknown. But driving in California is much more dangerous than it was just a few years ago.
You know what a disaster. This could have easily been a fatality. Those laws need changing for the other living demographic beings!
Does anyone know who the truck is registered to?
