Earlier this week, the driver of this Dodge was spotted by the California Highway Patrol weaving through multiple lanes before blowing past their new Specially Marked Patrol Vehicle (SMPV) at 96 MPH. A traffic stop was initiated, revealing the driver was unlicensed. The vehicle was promptly impounded. The CHP’s new SMPV is designed to blend in with everyday traffic, making it easier to catch reckless drivers in the act.
…….and I bet No Insuramce!
I say impound these cars, and lock the drivers up!
Put the cars in a crusher. Give the perp some time served credit or reduce the ticket if he pushes the start button and watches the car turn into a manhole cover.
Yeah…. what happened to the driver?
He should be in a “Time Out” too.
Police Interceptor Ford Explorers have no roof rack.
Front tint on the new Chp vehicles doesn’t appear to be legal…. Funny how that works
It’s legal.
https://www.tinting-laws.com/california/
The front door windows are perfectly legal. Looks like factory tint to me.
If you are referring to the passenger side widows, every window behind the front door can be spray paint opaque so long as there is a driver and passenger side mirror.
Love it.
That smpv can cruise up and down hwy 4 all day, the officers hand would cramp up from writing tickets.
One fact is certain, wasn’t headed to a MENSA meeting.
Sorry Real World doesn’t have a re-set button, you screwed up.
Towing charge, storage fees, possibly court fees and what about
those nice people at DMV ? ? ? ?, $ $ $ $ $
.
Let speeders go right on by, ’cause you’ll see them later,
talking to law enforcement.
My last speeding ticket, was either 1974 or 1975.
.
An watch out for CHP chopper out of Napa and big Xs on roadside.
My last speeding ticket was for 5km (3.1 MPH) over the limit near Lake Iseo in Italy in 2023 in a rental car. I got the ticket in the mail about 6 months later.
Only 3.1 mph over? That’s pretty bad.
BALLZOUT!!!!!!! 🤣
Play stupid games…win stupid prizes.
should take the vehicle and auction it off as punishment for police funding instead of just taking from the tax payers take these criminals vehicles for driving unlicensed and same for people driving uninsured and those that get DUI’s.
Run for office that sounds like a great idea to me! I would back that proudly!
Reckless driving citation not just speeding, license suspension for 30 or 60 days (judges discretion as to which) , and minimum of 30 day impound at +/- $90 / day = $2,700.00 impound fees alone. hope that gets others’ attention.
Hwy 4??
They didn’t mention he wasn’t wearing a seat belt of course.
Geez, I could just send them my dash cam videos that capture all the stunts and the license plate numbers of the Super Dave Osborne wannabe’s who are constantly buzzing around me on the freeways.
We could all do that and the CHP would save a bundle!
That sucks.
Can’t condone it
but it’s not like I haven’t done it
too lazy for hypocrisy I guess.
Was the car insured? Drivers like him are why I carry $2 million insurance.
This is my point of view ( what I think) is that all the money that the 30 day impound fees will end up costing more than the reckless driving ticket and all Court related fees
And the State or any government office is going to receive any money from the 30 day impound that is money for the towing company they are making them rich to me that’s the problem the government should collect that money the towing company is already making big money which towing the vehicle what they do is robbing people with their money $100 per day to have your car parked in the dirt in the sun and most of the time they go thru your property that’s not ok to me it’s at least $3000 for having the car parked why don’t the Court collect that money instead that’s straight robbery from towing companies we all had been in or lifetime towing company issues and it’s not fair how they make up fees like to open the gate fees
That 30 day impound law it’s only gold mine for tow company owner that’s who making bank
Hard to work up a lot of sympathy for someone who driving on a suspended or revoked driver license since the Driver is in total control of the situation. IF you do not drive, the vehicle will not be impounded, the owner will not incur tow, storge, release or impound fees and the Driver will not pick up another case will additional, fines. points and driving restrictions.
Pretty simple don’t you think?
Tow Companies are entitled to charge storge fees because to be part of the police tow rotations they agree to the fee schedule set by the police. They agree to not only store the vehicle for up to 30 days for the police but agree to release the vehicle and be available to tow a vehicle 24-7/365.
That said, in 2017 the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals determined CVC section 14602.6(a)(1) (30 day impound) was a violation of the 4th Amendment protection of unreasonable seizure of property unless a warrant were obtained to continue the possession of the vehicle or an agency is able to articulate facts that support another exception to the warrant requirement of the 4th Amendment.
Hah! Not surprising it’s a Dodge.
