Bay Area air quality officials have issued the first Spare the Air alert of the year for Friday, as triple-digit temperatures in inland areas are expected to combine with vehicle exhaust to produce high levels of ozone—a harmful air pollutant commonly known as smog. According to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, air quality is forecast to reach unhealthy levels throughout the region. Ozone pollution can lead to throat irritation, congestion, chest pain, and other respiratory issues. It poses the greatest risk to young children, seniors, and individuals with heart or lung conditions. Officials recommend limiting outdoor activities to the early morning hours when ozone concentrations are typically lower. They also encourage residents to consider everyday actions to reduce pollution, such as using public transportation, carpooling, or avoiding unnecessary car trips.
Now if only, they could do something about CA wildfires.
you just have to pay more and that will fix it.

I pay no attention to most so called “special” days. This is one of them.
Cooking a large tri tip today, this will not stop me. Need my meat.
Nobody minds smoke like that… it’s yummy aroma that makes us smile.
There is no real objective criteria for calling a spare the air day… I took the director of the AQMD to task a while ago and she got so frustrated she started yelling at me on the phone – it’s all subjective,,, not PurpleAir… none of those true story
