A heavy police presence was reported at Sunvalley Mall in Concord following an initial call of “shots fired,” which was later determined to be unfounded by Concord Police. The actual incident was a smash-and-grab robbery targeting a jewelry store inside the mall. According to witnesses, 3 to 4 male suspects wearing ski masks shattered display cases and stole multiple items before fleeing the scene. The suspects were last seen exiting through JCPenney and leaving in a small black sedan. Concord Police are actively investigating the robbery.
My opinion only… Just start shooting these people rather than sitting there with a slack-jawed look while the perpetrate these crimes. Sooner or later “likely sooner” a pedestrian is going to killed for being in their way. Make it dangerous to do these things rather than an easy occupation. once again my opinion only.

Stores do care, however it is hard to catch smash and grab, they work very fast. Calling the police when you see someone with a mask, is useless, they will be long gone by the time the police gets there. There is mall security, I see them all the time, but they can’t be everywhere at once. Of course, sales associates cannot do anything, and shouldn’t other than alert security. They are not trained, and most establishments don’t want their employees putting themselves in danger. Especially someone that are willing to smash glass cases, they might easily try to hurt anyone trying to stop them.
