UPDATE: New Lane Separators On Ygnacio Valley Rd Experience Sudden Career Change To Roadkill

The new traffic lane separators on Ygnacio Valley Rd approaching Oak Grove Rd are taking a beating, with a few even missing. They were recently installed in the dedicated right-turn lane, and are designed to prevent drivers from using the lane to bypass the backed-up through-traffic. Looks like drivers are just driving right over them. Time for a cement barrier!

I would like to see these along carpool lanes and on
Monument making a right onto Buskirk.

Golly, Gosh, is there an echo ?
.
“IF vehicles can drive over those “plastic traffic lane separators“
without incurring damage, it’ll be open season.”
.
So nice of Walnut Creek to provide additional risk for drivers.
Now, if the right turn lane is where you HAVE TO BE, not only
do you have to watch your right mirror for oncoming vehicles,
also have to watch for, flying “plastic traffic lane separators“.
.
Used to tell new hires into our shop,
“bosses and engineers are provided for your entertainment”.
.
Loved saying to bosses and engineers, “YOU want to do WHAT” ? ? ?
Then with HUGE smile would say, . . . . . “OK” ! ! !
.
Dilemma now, does WC put workers in danger trying to replace
missing  â€œplastic traffic lane separators“ OR tear ’em all out and
call it a learning experience ? ? ? What was total cost for install,
parts and labor ? Should city council be asked that question?
Entertainment value . . . . . .
.
How is it an old grumpy retiree can occasionally guess what’s
going to be entertainment and those in charge who came up
with the idea, to solve problems, fail to consider what some
hyoo-mäns could do to screw up their perfect “plan” . . . . . . . .
.
Hey–ah, . . . . . pass the popcorn please.

Set up a camera and start mailing out tickets. Then maybe the childish me first, I’m more important than everyone else hazardous drivers might get the message.

For those of you don’t believe in paying fines for traffic violation – you could work it off. Fix the roads, cuts weeds for fire safety in the hills during summer, do janitorial work at government buildings, and more. You could get minimum wage and pay your debt to society.

Or, the penalty could be replacing any broken dividers. Whatever the cost is, including labor, is the fine.

well that didn’t take long

Plastic flexible lane separators= failure. Next up will be Jersey barriers with sand filled barrels at the gore point. Better decide which lane you want ahead of time.

Perhaps they should just widen the road. Doordashers can get deactivated if they are late too often because of traffic.

I mean, technically it’s one solid white line which lane changes are legal, just not recommended. Unless there is also signage saying not to change lanes. Is there a sign as well?. So what is the actual crime for driving over those?

I knew that was going to happen, I can drive over those with my truck and with no damage and not even notice it. And my truck isnt lifted much at all, most could and aparrently do the same. 2 words, Concrete Barrier. I cant drive over that with my truck, maybe my rock crawler but thats too slow to drive on roads.

A concrete barrier would be more effective than a cement barrier.

Not a safe habit to acquire.

Look at that road. Wh messed it up PG&E? t’s time to fix all the streets that look like that. It’s a disgrace.

No Aunt B … years of neglect and “deferred maintenance” … was supposed to be repaved years ago and kept getting pushed out – now supposedly 2027 … they were waiting for federal funding – like Biden or Trump would have any interest in repaving YVR?

Welcome to the new Los Angeles, everyone.
Massive traffic congestion. Crime. Crumbling infrastructure. Construction and greedy developers obliterating open space, countryside and animal populations. Overpopulation +. Inept, feckless, corrupt and out of touch pandering self serving government.
Get ready. Things ain’t going to get better anytime soon.

I put on my turn indicator to switch to that lane tonight when someone came barreling down the hill at a high speed not allowing me to get over and as I was watching him, it was too late because the pylons were in the way. Then the guy behind me was blasting his horn because I had slowed to switch lanes.

They’ve been warned. Put bollards up that actually damage the vehicle when hit!
