It’s been 40 years this month since 41-year-old Concord resident Dottie Caylor vanished without a trace, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions that still haunt the Concord community to this day. Dottie was last seen in June of 1985. Her husband, Jule Caylor, claimed he dropped her off at the Pleasant Hill BART station. Her car was later discovered parked at the Concord BART station the next day, but there were no confirmed sightings of Dottie, no signs of struggle, and no concrete evidence pointing to where she went or what happened. She was reported missing by her husband 5 days later. What made her disappearance even more troubling was the state of her personal life. According to friends and those familiar with the case, Dottie had been preparing to leave her husband. She had reportedly reached out to a domestic violence counselor and was seeking a new beginning. Those close to her say she was thoughtful and deliberate, someone unlikely to vanish voluntarily without telling anyone. Despite the concerning circumstances, Dottie’s husband was never arrested or charged. However, suspicion grew when it was revealed, according to the television series Unsolved Mysteries, that Jule Caylor moved to Salt Lake City just two weeks after his wife’s disappearance, a detail that raised eyebrows among investigators and the public alike. Dottie’s case was featured on the very first episode of Unsolved Mysteries in 1987, bringing national attention to her story. The segment generated tips and renewed interest, but ultimately no breakthrough. Concord Police dug up the back yard, and other parts of the property at their former home in Concord in 2005, but the only bones that were found belonged to the Caylor’s dog, who died in 1985. The home was owned by Jule Caylor for over 40 years before it was sold in 2024, according to real estate records. Jule Caylor is currently 87-years-old, and lives in Utah. Anyone with information about Dottie Caylor’s disappearance is urged to contact the Concord Police Department.

The first four sentences solve the case.
She changed her identity and got out of dodge? He dropped her at PH BART but her car was found at Concord BART? Strange.
Jule Caylor also ran for a seat in the Utah House of Representatives with the suspicion of this case hanging over him.
He later said he never dropped her off at PH BART. And her car was found at Concord BART. I think he left her car at Concord BART after he killed her.
There’s no mention of life insurance, but I don’t think hubby killed her. What I think is that
the support group helped her overcome her agoraphobia, and one or two of her friends
helped her set it all up, and she lived happily ever after.
Her purse was found inside her vehicle at Concord BART. A $5,000.00 cashier’s check for the sale of her vehicle and trailer was never cashed. Next door neighbors saw him pouring concrete in his backyard at the time of her disappearance. The smell of “burning flesh” was also noticed inside his house by the next door neighbor. Hmm…
Dottie and her husband were my neighbors. She had extreme agoraphobia, so we did not see her that much.
One evening when I was between 9-11 years old, two of the neighbor boys and myself played “Ding Dong Ditch” on their door. When Jule’s answered the door, we ran, and he came running after us. The boys were able to jump up on firewood and get over the fence to his home, I was unable to jump over the fence and hid to the side of the wood. Jules grabbed my neck and yelled if we ever played this game (at his house) again he’d take care of it.
I was informed the Concord Police came and spoke with neighbors after Dottie disappeared, but nothing resulted in the interviews. I left a voicemail 2 years ago with the detective overseeing the case but have not heard anything. It’s such a disappointment. Dottie’s family deserves closure, and this abusive criminal Jules deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail. Maybe time to call Dateline, 48 Hours or 20/20 for some momentum.
Warmly
Concord Police has a nasty habit of personally deciding what they think is important or not. I’m sorry that they’ve dismissed you and your neighbors. Back to harassing people for no reason to sooth their superiority complexes.
87…. he really doesn’t have much time left.
Maybe it’s time to force a confession out of him.
He is so creepy.
Doesn’t really sound like a mystery to me.
There’s not nearly enough revenge
being taken by family members
Kill my mom, and it’s a 12 ga Father’s Day.
Or my name ain’t Atticus.

Talk around the neighborhood circa 1985: Jule abused at least one of the neighbors cats. He also experimented with using chemicals to dispose of the bodies of animals and once bragged to one of the neighbors that he knew how to make a body disappear without leaving a trace. Jule worked for the forestry service and had access to restricted wilderness areas. A neighbor claimed that shortly before Dottie disappeared they saw Jule driving Dottie’s VW Bug with Dottie sitting motionless in the passenger seat wearing a scarf and sunglasses. Dottie didn’t respond when the neighbor waved at them and some theorize that Jule positioned her body in the passenger seat to make it look like he was giving her a ride to the bart station when in actuality he was transporting her body to forestry owned property.
