The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The Trump administration said they see ‘no viable path’ forward to finish the high-speed rail project in California, and are threatening to pull $4B in funding, according to the L.A. Times.

QUESTION: Do you think the high-speed rail project will ever be complete?

Buying worthless land at premium prices.

Yes.

Obviously those that are having to pay for the California democrat government HSR boondoggle are totally against it.

You have to be able to think to answer this though.

It only took four years to build the New York subway system, and that was 121 years ago.
Fifty years from now, the Science Channel will make a documentary about what’s left of
the unfinished project. Mysteries of the Abandoned.

When Gavin runs for president, this will be one of the top 5 failures of his and of his goodball party that will keep him from the job, thank God. But in the meantime, we taxpayers are throwing money at this insanity that will never be completed. The project’s own website is now admitting even if it is completed, at best it will connect Gilroy to Palmdale. Woo-hoo!

Sure, it could happen

  • Bart: Maybe you know why a high-roller like Hedley Lamarr Gavin Newsom is interested in Rock Ridge.
  • Cowellian: Don’t know. Got to do with where choo-choo go.
  • Bart: Cowellian, why would Hedley Lamarr Gavin Newsom care about where the choo-choo goes?
  • Cowellian: Don’t know. Cowellian only pawn in game of life.

But probably not!

Probably not. I’ve mentioned many times before if they started it in 1980s it would have been finished at a fraction of what has already been spent. But there is one problem then, airfare was dirt cheap, so high speed rail did not make a lot of sense unless you wanted to charge premium for those who want to watch scenery go speeding by.

12

Doubt it will be finished, then again it’s not their money being wasted.
How many people would ride between Bakersfield and Merced ? ? ?
Project is proof, incompetence is alive and well in California.

The first segment should have been LA to San Jose.

The California democrat government isn’t even competent enough to set up and operate a sidewalk kiddie koolaide stand.
And, It will probably be totally obsolete if and when it ever gets finished, which will probably be in the year 2199.

Should have ben stopped when Newscum promised he would in his campaign commitments on his first election… as soon as he got voted in – he reversed 180 degrees like he always does… I’m sorry we had to fund the BILLIONS already spent…. watch out – he’ll still try for the WH at the next election – can you imagine this on a national scale?!

As Trump and Lee Zeldin work to end California’s ability to require smog checks, our governor is creating a new scam – mandatory checks of brake pads. Got to make up for the lost revenue somehow.

Recall Newsom.

18

Smog is not for air quality,it is merely a tax on 10 million smog tests per year.Other state do a “vehicle inspection” for the same tax so if smog is eliminated here, they will start an inspection test.In Ohio, the citizens voted away the smog program. They won’t let California vote on this.

We need to shut that thing down now and save our taxes from the black hole in Sacramento! What a totally mismanaged boondoggle run by the states best Democrats. Worst part is, if they ever get it running, it’ll be a continuous tax drain to keep it operating. It’s another BART looming in the distance!

19

No, it will go the way of Heritage USA.

House the homeless beneath the unfinished train overpasses. They could pitch tents from Bakersfield to Merced.

This story shows how bad this project has been.

The “Thing” that all the Democrat-Socialist politicians, in Calif, avoid…is ANY conversation on how much Tax $$$ will be needed to Subsidize its operation…if actually built… Much like BART, it is unlikely that it can be self-sufficient.

Well, as the state of California is not self-sufficient, I wouldn’t expect any affiliated government projects to be either.

I do not believe the rail project will ever be completed. Note: I said rail, not high speed, because I do not think high speed was ever really in the cards. I hope (futile, to be sure) that someone will choke off the money train (no pun intended, should have said gravy train) going to whomever is living large off we taxpayers. scott weiner will go straight before the train gets completed.
