Do I watch riots? No, I am not entertained by them. When I see someone waving a foreign flag in the country I fought for, it will only piss me off. If they are so proud of their homeland, then they have the option to go back to where they came from, because the majority of American voters do not want them here.
Anybody that was around in the late 60s and early 70s, should remember the protests and riots, and what happened when the National Guard was called in to assist at Kent State University in Ohio. The Guard opened fire, killing four students and wounding nine others.
Anybody that has been paying attention to Trump in the last 8 or 9 years should realize that he is not a quitter, when he gets hit, he will always hit back harder. Calling in the Guard is a good idea, and in my opinion, it’s not enough, the Marines should be called in also. The military and police are only human, and as with most humans, some of them have a braking point, if the rioters don’t start protesting peacefully, sooner or later, somebody is going to get killed.

No, Trump was wrong — again! The National Guard was not needed in LA, and was not even requested or wanted by local law enforcement. Trump is trying to play the “big, tough guy”, but his actions only serve to demonstrate that he has turned the country into a kakistocracy*. Deployment of the National Guard, and now the Marines, is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Does that sound like the Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department would turn down help from the California National Guard to you?
Incidentally, the Guard is confined to protecting Federal property. They have not been assisting the LAPD or LASD. We wouldn’t want the Fed to trample on Newsom and Bass urban renewal efforts.

I know there have been some naysayers, like LAPD C.O.P. McDonnell and LA Co. Sheriff Luna who have gone on record saying their officers and deputies are overwhelmed but do these two really have the pulse of the situation like Newsom, Bass and Waters? Doubt it since both agencies have limitless personnel/resources. Sure it’s only a matter of time before a deputy or police officer is seriously injured or killed by gravity pulling a piece of concrete to the ground with force but that is just force majeure. I think this is theatrics by both sides so far. A few hundred CANG and US Marines aren’t really enough to do much of anything and they are just there to guard federal properties. The US has 3 separate but equal branches of Government: Legislative, Judicial and Executive Branches.
The US Congress works and controls the US Capital Building just as the SCOTUS works and controls the Supreme Court Building while the Executive Branch controls the rest of the Federal Property.
The Speaker of the House could no more sent the Capital Police to the Supreme Court Building without Justice Roberts’ permission than Justice Roberts could send Supreme Court Police to the Capital Building without the Speaker of the House’s permission. Each could offer but nether could unrelatedly do so on their own – separate but equal.
It is the Speaker of the House’s responsibility to quest the Guard from the Executive Branch. It is not the Executive Branch responsivity to take over the security of the Capital Building from Legislative Branch.
The Federal Building in Los Angeles is exclusively controlled by the Executive Branch.
According to House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) obtained documentary footage recorded by Alexandra Pelosi on January 6, 2021 and produced to the Subcommittee by HBO. The subcommittee posted a video January 6, 2021 where Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated “I take responsibility” for the security failures of the Capitol that day.

That’s totally false. Property was burning on Friday; Bass told police to stand down, and Newsom was off somewhere, probably looking in a mirror. Two days later, Bass and Newsom STILL hadn’t done anything, so Trump did his duty as President to protect a US city, its citizens, and buildings.
