Morucci’s in Walnut Creek. Try the Number 1 and 1 1/2. Both Italian type sandwiches.

Parma Deli

Great family.

People often highly recommend Parma Deli on Clayton Rd. I tried it due to all the recommendations and found it to be fine, but nothing special. Nice people, decent sandwich.

Parma Deli, on Clayton Rd, in Concord. I go there especially for the Reuben, which, having tried several other places, was simply the BEST. You like your sandwiches a certain way, they’ll make it that way for you. As for Customer Service; my first time there, I knocked over my glass of beer, which was quickly replaced by one of the staff. That’s Customer Service!!

Nearby would be Parma’s Deli.
Walnut Creek, it would be Morucci’s.
Hubby & I split a sandwich since even half is too much for me.

Well…. with so many great reviews I may have to try Parma deli the next time I go that far West.

i CAN TEKLL YOU THE WORST PLACE….Genova Deli. Nice owner, but his staff is incompetent and the sandwich is 1/4 the size it used to be. All the staff does is gossip[ about customers and fight with them.
Good riddance!

You’re 100% correct.
Genova Deli is terrible!
Way overpriced, tiny sandwiches and there’s no Italians actually running the place or working there.

They didn’t even know what mozzarella di buffalo is. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Parma Deli and Jack’s in Pleasant Hill

Canesa’s!

Like Dawg stated before I did, best sandwich would be from my kitchen.

Sunrise Bagels in Park ‘n’ Shop.
Never had a bad one yet.
There’s always a long line, so you know it has to be good!

I completely forgot about bagel sandwiches when I was making my list! I like Sunrise Bagels too, Ancient Mariner! And House of Bagels.

I can no longer afford to go out, but if money were not a problem…I like Mr. Pickles. However, if I really wanted to treat myself, I would go to Luigi’s on Clayton Rd.

Luigi’s got bought out, I went there for the first time since covid, and saw a manager or owner or someone like that, bringing in a garbage bags filled with Safeway bread. They don’t pile it like they used to, the only thing that was just a good was the garlic mayo.

Parma Deli in Concord.
Morucci’s in Walnut Creek.
Canesa’s in Clayton.

I’ll throw in another great place. Luigi’s in Martinez on Main Street. They just celebrated their 20th anniversary. Really good bread and generous amounts of meat and other condiments.

Depends on the type of sandwich:

Escape from Fisherman’s Wharf in Pleasant Hill (for their crab or shrimp sandwiches. I haven’t wanted to try anything else but they have deli sandwiches too)

Papi Clary’s Kitchen in Concord (for their spicy chicken sandwich. Again, I haven’t tried anything else on their menu)

Barrelista in Martinez (for their avocado toast)

Slow Hand BBQ in Pleasant Hill or Martinez (for a meaty BBQ sandwich)

Parma Deli in Concord (for a deli sandwich)

There are also some great gyro places but are those considered sandwiches?
