Oakland officers arrested several people allegedly connected to a series of Bay Area robberies and burglaries, according to police.

A West Oakland robbery kicked off the four-month investigation which began in February, the Oakland Police Department said Tuesday. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle, but the suspect allegedly struck two vehicles, including a police cruiser, to try to avoid arrest.

Detectives began a larger investigation, using video evidence, search warrants and other information. This led detectives to a group from Richmond they believe is linked to a series of robberies and burglaries throughout the Bay Area.

The investigation ended last Thursday after multiple search warrants were served in Oakland, Richmond, Concord, Antioch and Tracy. Three people were arrested on outstanding warrants and cash, a firearm and narcotics were allegedly recovered, police said.

Police did not immediately release the names of those arrested.
