I remember when West Pittsburg was renamed to Bay Point in order to improve its negative image. But I guess it never works because I hear people now refer to it as ‘gunpoint”
Couple of historic nicknames, Gunpoint and Dodge City
Pittsburg used to be New York Landing… it all went downhill from there.
Dr. Jellyfinger,

Prior to Bay Point being known as West Pittsburg, it was named Bella Vista and the name for Port Chicago Highway in Bella Vista was called Via Roma. The name Bay Point came from the former City of Bay Point, which was the original name for the former City of Port Chicago, which changed its name during the Great Depression in a rebranding effort to revive their economy as a port city. Other areas in Bella Vista were also known as Ambrose and McAvoy, which were the names of stops on one or more of the railroad company train routes through the area, as was West Pittsburg, which stuck, and Bella Vista became West Pittsburg.
In late 1970s and 1980s Antioch was desirable place to buy a house
and raise a family.
Pittsburg was a town to avoid !

Then Joe Sbranti became Pittsburg city manager. Joe retired at end
of 2018 after 22 years on the job. Pittsburg turned around and
Antioch turned into a place to be avoided. Was relieved when Son
decided he didn’t want his daughters attending Antioch schools
and moved family to TEXAS.
