The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.
QUESTION: Do you partake in boycotts against companies when they do something you don’t like?
Talk about it.
Yes – ex. Dick’s Sporting Goods when they walked away from supporting the 2nd Amendment
Not really, if I did, I’d be boycotting just about every business in town. There will always be somebody that says or does things in a way that I may find silly, stupid, or even revolting.
I don’t care, I’m not easily offended, and getting upset, or making a fuss over such nonsense would only affect me and my wellbeing, the company will continue doing business as usual and won’t even know that I’m alive. It’s like holding a grudge, and I don’t hold grudges.
Live, and let live.
No.
I do choose shops that are in line with my values. I will pay more for “Made in America”. I have returned items that stated to be made here only to see that they are not.
ABSOLUTELY
.
I decide who gets my money.
Years ago walmart did a study on how much in sales they lose per boycotting
customer over their lifetime and it came out to just over $200,000.
.
I also refuse to use self checkout, don’t believe in putting people out of work
even if I own the company’ stock.
You’re fooling yourself ,they have 1-2 people milling around self serve telling people they didnt scan all the bags of cat litte in their cart. It’s Walmart, they have people there that literally do nothing but you cant fire them. Thier cornbraids prohibit it.Nobody’s out of work but did you know most refuse 40 hours a week because a ful time job gets their govt benefits cut down or cit off,so they only work part time .Nobodys will ever lose work at Walmart unless they volunteer to.
.
Blacklisted Companies: Apple, Dick’s, & Anheuser-Busch
.
Blacklisted Places: San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley get none of my business.
.
Eff ’em.
.
Yes. Levi, KFC, and yeti. All of these companies are anti gun and donate money towards banning them. If you don’t believe me, look it up.
Sometimes. I will never buy a Lenovo computer or fly certain airlines, such as Qatar.
Having bought a lenovo, I will no longer purchase one again. Not because it is made in China (I think all laptops in general are) but because it is a lousy laptop.
Yep. Sara Lee was on my doo doo list for years for being pro gun control, but I understand the company has changed hands & I don’t know who owns ’em now.
I quit the NRA until they got rid of La Pierre (Oliver North blew the whistle on WLP & his cronies living large at our expense).
Levi’s
Dicks Sporting Goods
Ben & Jerry’s
Bed, Bath & Beyond
There’s a bunch more if you look online that are purely left wing politically, gun grabbers and pro choice child murderers, but those that I listed are my personal worsties because I am a former customer.
Thank Goodness Coors & Fritos are right leaning conservative companies!
And I don’t buy any crap made in China.
Big 5 committed suicide by not selling guns anymore, just pellet guns. They live (and die) by wokeness, but you can still buy ammo.
Bud Light is still on my sh*t list
Yeah, Budweiser really pulled a blunder there!
What the hell were they thinking! I still can’t forgive them for that. Why I almost gave a beer with the thought of that Dylan man/woman.
I don’t drink bud light because of the flavor. They did s-can that idiot lady who used that freak, and as best I can tell, that franchise is no longer promoting the dysfunctional crowd. but, I cannot see a bud light can and think of that colossal mess up.
I am not much of a boycotter but this one grabbed me too. I will not buy Bud Light anymore. Don’t know that I’ll ever get over that. I also seek out alternatives to Target for similar reasons such as their, at least previously, selling “binder” wear in the children’s department. Wary of Disney, too.
Yes, we just recently started doing so. The liberal left has always boycotted any business they didn’t agree with. So we’re using our buying power to do the same. We will not shop at Target because if it’s crazy left politics and policies and for them not allowing the Salvation Army bell ringers to be there around Christmas because of the organizations support traditional marriage. We will also not fly Alaska Airlines because of their woke craziness.
You may wish to reconsider …..

Without coming right out and admitting “The whole DEI brainfart was ridiculous and we didn’t really mean it” Target has pulled back alot of it’s diversity stupidity as have many other large retailers.
” Target said that it would join rival Walmart and a number of other prominent American brands in scaling back diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives”
“Walmart, McDonald’s, Ford, Harley-Davison and John Deere are among the well-known consumer brands that reduced or phased out their DEI commitments in recent months”

No. Always seemed childish to me. You have goods and/or services I want
and price and service reasonable, we have a deal.
Money Talks and B*lllsh!t Walks!!!!
Absolutely right.
Why would a business, movie star, or any public personality outside of politics want to offend or alienate a large number of their supporters by expressing opinions (right or wrong) that will only do them more harm than good?
Support your causes privately, not publicly!
Especially if you have a responsibility to stock holders.
If you decide your priorities mean you must put your controversial causes first, then your career becomes a side job…. go woke, go broke!
Really only Ben and Jerry’s. They are just SO AWFUL as people. I know they don’t own the company anymore, but until the current company owners denounce these former owners, I can’t. It makes me sick. They think they stand for peace and love but are the most hateful humans ever. The company that bought them agreed to let them continue their activist mission, and they are just as bad as every blue haired middle aged white woman, screaming at people who do not agree with her delusional views.
Yes. Stopped shopping Target, due to their promotion of dysfunction and refusal to acknowledge Christmas (this was a decade or so ago, been that long). Stopped shopping at JC Penney’s after that last poor quality product that did not last even half as long as it should have. Stopped shopping Bassett for the same reason. Stopped shopping Dick’s (not that I went there much, prefer Big 5) after their 2A caving. switched from Nike to New Balance after the kaeprnick BS regarding the Betsy Ross flag.
This is why i wont go to Walnut Creek anymore,I only went there to go to Target. Now there is no reason to go there ,the Chevron across the street no longer has good gas prices. At one time lower than any Chevron in Concord.
I can’t speak to all that but I know for a fact you can’t buy targets at Target.
I may have to change my Levi Straus position!
Looks like they have abandoned the dark side.

You better believe it! Every morning I wake up to Boycott Target by Forgiato Blow.
His songs are so good and inspiring for us die hard MAGAs. I only buy from Walmart!
Tractor Supply ended its woke policies after widespread boycotts.
Yes, I boycott. I won’t say how many years I’ve spent money on tickets, apparel, etc., on the Raiders and SF Giants, but no more. The Raiders lost me in 2017, and the Giants lost me in 2021. They decided activism was more important than their fan base. These professional sports teams have absolutely nothing I want or need, and I haven’t missed them one bit.
Yes… and no. It depends. For example, some people may take issue with Chick Fil A for some of their political donations or ideology but I remind myself that individual franchise owners aren’t the ones making these decisions. When there was a made shooting at Pulse Nightclub, the local Chick Fil A opened on Sunday , and provided free meals to first responders and others affected by this horrible act of violence . I try to do a little research before boycotting . Would hate to harm a business based off an uninformed / uneducated decision .. which many people do on social media.
